A good gaming headset accompanies you in the home office and while gaming. However, the search for the perfect gaming headset can take a long time, as MeinMMO editor Benedikt Schlotmann had to find out.
A gaming headset often accompanies you for half the day, whether during work or in your free time: If you are in the home office, you need it when talking to colleagues. When you want to game, you talk to friends or listen to the sound in the game.
Nevertheless, it can take a long time to find the perfect headset for your needs. I had to realize this. Because I have very specific needs when I buy and wear a headset:
- It must not be too heavy.
- The microphone is preferably detachable and hopefully people enjoy listening to me.
- The headset is well made and does not give me the feeling that it is going to break just by looking at it.
These headsets I have tried: On my way to the perfect headset, I have surely tried close to a dozen. Here is an excerpt from my search:
- The GSP 670 by Epos|Sennheiser impressed me with its sound, but the headset was too heavy for me in the long run and pressed on my ears.
- The Roccat ELO 7.1 had a comfortable fit, but my buddies were not very enthusiastic about the microphone.
- With Logitech’s G533, I was not convinced by the build quality, the device felt flimsy to me. The sound was decent but did not provide enough punch in shooters. Teammates found the microphone clear.
This is the headset I decided on: After a long search, I ultimately chose the Logitech G Pro X. The MSRP is 129.99 euros, but you can usually get the headset for 80 to 90 euros.
With the Logitech G Pro X, I not only got a detachable microphone but also some accessories. Weighing around 300 grams, the headset is definitely on the lighter side. I have now been using the device for over a year and am satisfied.

My headset fits comfortably, sounds good, and I sound good
These are the advantages: For currently just under 100 euros, buyers receive a comprehensive package. In addition to the actual headset, several cables for PC and mobile devices are included. There are also interchangeable ear pads, a sound card from Logitech, and a transport bag. You rarely get so much accessories for the price.
Logitech focuses on a simple design for the headset, which I personally really like. Instead of offering various additional features or RGB lighting like the Logitech G935, Logitech has concentrated on the core functions of a headset. I wouldn’t see the RGB lighting on the headset while wearing it anyway and it would only impress my girlfriend’s cat.
The core of a good headset for me consists of three things:
- A good sound, because I want to have fun while gaming and enjoy orchestral music.
- Comfort, because I have to wear such a headset for hours at a time.
- The microphone. Nothing is worse than complaining colleagues or friends who cannot understand you.
And in these three mentioned categories, Logitech’s G Pro X can really convince me. The sound is powerful and bass-heavy, which doesn’t bother me while gaming. From my own experience, I can only advise to definitely use the Logitech G Pro X with the included sound card, as the sound becomes richer and fuller.
Sound is generally somewhat subjective, but the device completely convinces me. When I play Apex Legends with friends, I can clearly locate enemies and can also distinguish how close they are to me.
Explosions sound powerful and in films or dialogue-heavy series, dialogues are clearly audible. Details can also be distinguished well from the sound, such as the small bell from Ganyu in Genshin Impact, which rings softly with each of her movements. As I move through Mondstadt, I hear conversations of the residents coming closer and then fading away.
I can wear the headset for 5 or 6 hours straight without ever feeling the need to just rip it off my head. Nevertheless, the gaming headset feels massive and robust, although it is significantly lighter than the GSP 670 from EPOS|Sennheiser.
My friends understand me during evening multiplayer sessions and my colleagues do not get startled every time I speak my mind into the microphone. Above all, I can game and my girlfriend can watch her series in the background without making friends feel like I am sitting in a waiting room of an American hospital.
The headset itself is made of steel, aluminum, and “memory foam,” which is said to be particularly comfortable for the ears. The “memory foam” is found in both the headband and the ear cushions. The headset gives me a very high-quality impression and is well made.
These are the disadvantages: You do not get spare parts for everything. If you have worn out all your ear pads, you cannot buy replacement pads from Logitech. A few months ago, I lost the microphone and had to order a replacement part through eBay. Because Logitech only offers the main cable as a replacement.
Another disadvantage is the overwhelming software. Because in the G-Hub software, you can customize just about everything or choose from pre-made sets. I am now using a specific set and no longer change the settings.
Maybe not necessarily a disadvantage, but: You cannot fold the headset. So if you like to be on the go or want to take your favorite hardware like a mouse and headset on vacation, the size may be an issue.
The headset always takes up the same amount of space, but if you have little room, it may bother you. The manufacturer Razer solves this better, as with the Razer Kaira Pro you can rotate the ear cushions 90 degrees and thus store the headset practically.
Whom can I recommend the headset to? I can recommend the Logitech G Pro X to you, especially if you are looking for a simple, well-crafted headset that scores with good ergonomics and a decent microphone. If you do not like wired headsets, then it is also worth looking at the wireless version, which costs about 40 euros more.

If you instead wish for a headset with an aggressive appearance and RGB, with which you want to entertain your housemates, then this gaming headset may be less appealing to you.
