Comparison: Legion vs Battle for Azeroth
Legion has only just concluded a few hours ago, and Battle for Azeroth has taken its place. However, Battle for Azeroth retains some features from the old addon – while some exciting features had to be left out.
What Remains the Same
Mythic+-Dungeons: There is again the opportunity in BfA to collect keystones for mythic dungeons to play increasingly difficult dungeons with better rewards. M+-dungeons were particularly well received by the community during Legion.
World Quests: The replacement for boring daily quest hubs were world quests, which appeared distributed across each area in Legion. World quests are also present in BfA, and they represent the initial endgame grind for resources, loot, and reputation.
Artifacts: Legendaries and artifact weapons were core features in Legion. Battle for Azeroth has similar items with the Heart of Azeroth and the Azerite armor that also function similarly:
- Artifact weapons were constantly fed artifact power to become more powerful. The Heart of Azeroth is continuously improved through Azerite.
- Legendaries granted unique abilities or improved skills. The Azerite armor does this as well, in different tiers.
What is Gone
Order Halls: In Legion, classes worked together to help in the fight against the Legion in accordance with their class fantasy. Once the Legion was defeated, the alliances also collapsed.
There is still a campaign in the form of the War Campaign, but it is only for the entire faction. Players are no longer “as special” as they were in Legion.
What is New
War Mode: The War Mode replaces PvP and offers rewards and cool features in the game. It even encourages PvP-hesitant players to explore WoW from the other side.
Warfronts: In a sort of strategy game, you command your troops, build a base, and fight for dominance in various important positions. Warfronts will be introduced later.
Island Expeditions: Capture resources for your faction on undiscovered islands, which are randomly generated each time. Be faster than the enemy and secure valuable Azerite.
