In Fortnite: Battle Royale there was an announcement for the event “14 Days of Fortnite” in the new patch. There will be new tasks and game modes every day. Our author Jürgen already has a few ideas.
What are the 14 Days of Fortnite? This event was unexpectedly announced in the Patch 7.10. According to the description, it will last for 14 days:
- introduce a new large team game mode every 2 days
- feature a small team mode every 24 hours
- regularly offer challenges with rewards
- present old as well as new game modes
When does it start? The kickoff for the 14 Days of Fortnite is on December 19, 2018. Every day at 3 PM our time, the eligible game modes will be updated and the challenges expanded.
Why does the event last 14 days? This mainly relates to the pun from the game’s name.
Fortnite is a variation of “Fortnight”, an archaic English term meaning “14 days.” In addition, many kids have time and are eager to play during the Christmas holidays in many countries over the next 14 days.
These challenges, rewards, and game modes could come
Epic has not disclosed what to expect, what tasks and rewards there will be. Therefore, I, Jürgen, have made some thoughts and also asked the MeinMMO community for advice on our new Discord server. Here are our speculations and assumptions.
Thanos is coming back: Rumors have been swirling for days about the return of the Thanos game mode “Infinity Gauntlet”. Dataminers even claim to have discovered solid clues already.
Therefore, the purple Titan is highly likely to return for a short time. Maybe even with the Infinity Blade as a counter-weapon?
Infinity Blade mode: It is quite possible that Epic will put the recently removed sword back into its own mode. There could be better weapon spawns for the rest to balance out, making it easier to counter the sword.
There might even be a mode with multiple mystical weapons, so not just one has the sword, but several players with super weapons could eventually clash.
Jetpacks vs. airplanes: Currently, airplanes are the big hit among many fans, while some players hate them. But fans of aerial combat could have a blast in this mode since it would feature not only airplanes but also jetpacks, balloons, and jumping pads in abundance. So aerial battles galore!
Snowball mode: Somehow, a snowball fight is just perfect for the winter theme. Perhaps there will only be snowball cannons, which have already been announced. The snowballs could act as instant kills, making the battles really tough.
Ski racing mode: Once the new snowboard arrives, a mode could be built based on using this new vehicle. Additionally, there’s already a type of winter sports track in the ice biome. It’s very likely there will be events related to this.
Food fight: During Christmas, the cool food fight might return. Burgers and pizza may not be classic Christmas meals, but there’s always time for a food fight.
Christmas heist: The heist mode, where you had to capture a jewel and bring it to the escape bus, could make a comeback. Ideally, you should be dressed as some kind of Grinch, stealing gifts.
Classic mode: In this mode, there are only weapons and items from Season 1 of Fortnite. This would be a lot of fun for all old-school fans of the game, for whom it feels too fast and too cluttered with stuff nowadays.
The already known and often recurring modes like Disco Domination, High Explosives, Sniper Duel, or Team Rumble should certainly find their way into the event as well.
What could there be in terms of challenges and rewards? Fans expect the usual rewards for the new tasks. These would then include spray logos, banners, a pickaxe, and a fall animation. Additionally, new skins have already been leaked, including a burnt gingerbread man. The tasks are expected to be specifically tailored to the respective game modes and released in phases.
That’s it for the speculations about 14 Days of Fortnite. What are your assumptions about the event?
