The Early Access of the new SciFi RPG Starfield is over, and MeinMMO is looking at the first reactions from players.
Eight hours before the Early Access of Starfield, professional tests and previews went live. You can take a look at a brief summary here.
But what is the first impression from players? A few hours after the launch, we listened to the community and report the first reactions.
Can the game Starfield live up to its cool live-action trailer?
Starfield: The shitstorm is absent, but criticism is everywhere
What is the first impression? In researching different social media platforms, it was noticeable that the mood around Starfield is positive. Most major points of criticism were already known due to gameplay leaks and these continue to be criticized:
- Spaceship gameplay is unsatisfying
- Game speed is too slow
Newly added are some technical flaws, but nowhere near as bad as with some other Bethesda titles. Bugs and glitches are to be expected. The bigger issue currently is the absence of a “Field of View” setting and that there is no map in cities.
Aside from that, the first player reactions seem hopeful. There are many comments where you can read the shining eyes, people are just excited.
Especially the performance on PC and Xbox Series is often praised, Starfield runs smoothly. But the feeling of freedom, which is so typical for Bethesda games, makes fans of the studio smile.
According to the first reactions, your expectations probably determine what you will think of Starfield.
Because the RPG doesn’t reinvent the Bethesda wheel, but wraps it in a fresh setting. If you expected a great revolution of the tried-and-true Fallout and Elder Scrolls formula, then you will be disappointed.
What do players say about Starfield? The range is wide, as is often the case with such mega-releases. There are players who are fascinated by the first hours, bragging about their goosebumps and spreading good vibes after the early access launch:
- BigBoySSE via Reddit: ‘Such a beautiful game, I am in love’
- @JSMatthews7 on Twitter: ‘I loved my first hour. I appreciate that the story develops slowly and allows me to immerse myself in the world.’
- Grim_9966 on Reddit: ‘Bethesda has done it again.’
- David on MeinMMO: ‘At 2 the game was running, I played for about an hour and was thrilled’
Comparisons with previous Bethesda titles often refer to Fallout 4. A similar judgment can also be found in the review by the colleagues at GameStar.
However, the critics are not silent either. Yet there is no major outcry about how bad Starfield is. Here and there, some players accuse the developers of having made too many promises, and this is provably true. However, criticism is often targeted and concerns specific areas of the game:
- @iamalitayyeb on Twitter: ‘Starfield is full of load screens and that is a huge immersion breaker.’
- scottwwe11 on Reddit: ‘The game itself has a great concept, but the implementation was not the best.’
- ProfessorPositive805 on Reddit: ‘A bit disappointed’
Conclusion: According to the first reactions, Starfield can meet the expectations of many players, but it seems to have oversold itself a bit beforehand. Those who do not expect a revolution and are looking for a “Skyrim in space” will apparently get their money’s worth.
However, keep in mind that this is an assessment of the first hours in the game. Whether the tide will turn one way or another remains to be seen in the coming days.
