Hytale’s third major update is now fully live after pre-release testing and brings a bunch of new features to the game. What you can expect is detailed here in the highlights and complete patch notes.
What are the highlights of Patch 3? Probably the biggest new feature for most players will be the ability to tame some friendly animals in the game. To do this, you must find out what they like to eat and bribe them with their favorite treat.
They will then stay near you, and you can pet them, feed them, and obtain valuable resources like wool or milk from them. You can also use some animals as mounts, which was previously only possible through a trick.
Additionally, there are some other major new features that many of you will appreciate.
These highlights are still expected in Patch 3
Besides the new taming feature, you can also look forward to several other highlights, such as:
- Revision of climbing mechanics
- Fire spread & Goblin flamethrower (initially only in Creative mode)
- Combat adjustments and bug fixes
- Improvements to inventory & interactions
- Grass now spreads
- Updates for map & navigation (e.g., player-placed map markers)
- New block variants
- New content & encounters
- Many new cosmetic items and avatar presets

What happens next? In their blog post about the update, the developers also mention that there will be such patches every 2-6 weeks, which will be available in weekly bundles for pre-release testing.
There will also be so-called chapters, which under the name “Cursebreaker Arc” are supposed to bring new content for the exploration mode. There will be a story, which will end with the final chapter in the full release. To achieve this, they have even expanded the team and hired talents from their own modding community.
