The first map in the history of Hunt: Showdown is back, and players are thrilled. The Stillwater Bayou not only looks significantly better now, but the developers have also tweaked a few other things.
What is it about? Hunt Showdown is an extraction shooter set in a dark western environment. The game was developed by the Germany-based studio Crytek. Your goal is to take down one of the bosses on the map and escape with a trophy.
On September 18, the map that started it all, Stillwater Bayou, returned. It had been disabled and revamped in conjunction with the Engine update along with the maps Lawson Delta and DeSalle. As a result, players had no choice but to play on the new map, Mammons Gulch.
In a trailer, Crytek shows how the swamp looks compared to the old version.

More environmental details and new possibilities
What does the trailer show? Hunt Showdown has never been an ugly game; however, the Bayou has never looked this good. With the upgrade to CryEngine 5.11, the lighting appears more realistic, there are many more details visible, and the water looks a lot better too.
Players are excited about returning to the swamp, as can be seen from the comments on the trailer on YouTube:
- Soapymacncheeze: “Hunters, we are home”
- soviettoaster_9323: “Ahh.. I missed you, Stillwater”
- selemiago: “Looks beautiful!! Good to be home again! I can’t wait to see DeSalle and Lawson Delta….”
The Bayou also plays differently in certain areas. At second 52, the trailer shows an open door in the compound Blanchetts Grave, which used to be closed. Players will no longer be able to easily barricade themselves in the building, while attackers will receive a new access opportunity.
