In the MMORPG Tibia, many hundreds of players mourned together at the end of March. Their thoughts were with the player Karol, who had passed away in March. The action even united rival guilds and set a record on the server.
Who was Karol? Karol, known to some mainly by the in-game name Tioril, was an avid player of Tibia. On the European server “Estela,” he reached level 285 with his character. This is a very high level for this server, even though on others level 1,500 has already been reached.
To pay their respects, many hundreds of players gathered, including not only friends but also members of a rival guild. The YouTuber Tumas Tibia even created a short tribute video. In the description, he writes about Karol:
He was “Pain in the Ass,” just as a good opponent should be. I have a lot of respect for him. My condolences to his family and friends.
The images from the video are very moving. The inscription “Karol” was made from roses and the players all wore the same outfit.
A touching action: The gathering of players shows that behind the computer games, there are indeed people who care about the fate of individuals.
Such moments occur in MMORPGs time and again, as recently in February of this year, when in ESO hundreds mourned for a fellow player in a PvP area.
The mourning for Karol not only unified a large number of players but also set a new record for the server.
Tibia still receives updates today and is particularly worthwhile if you want endless progression. Levels and skills have no limits in the game.
Nearly 600 people online simultaneously
How many players gathered? It is hard to say how many users were actually online to bid farewell to their fellow player.
What is certain, however, is that on March 27, a record of 594 players active at the same time was set for the server Estela. According to the website Guildstats, there are about 4,458 players in guilds. However, we do not know exactly how many players are currently on the server.
However, Tibia as a whole currently has significantly rising player numbers. According to Reddit, at least at the time of the screenshot, over 27,000 players were online simultaneously.
This is impressive, given that at the beginning of the year there were problems in the MMORPG. These involved balancing issues with gold and experience points.
