In Red Dead Redemption 2 there are often strange bugs and crazy situations. One such instance is in a clip where a player manages to tie himself up instead of an NPC. He received hundreds of upvotes on reddit.
What can be seen in the clip? In the 40-second clip on reddit, the player, known as zzzenix, walks straight through a hail of bullets towards an NPC. This involves his bounty that he is supposed to tie up and kidnap.
But while the cowboy tries to catch his target, something strange suddenly happens. The ropes do not wrap around the NPC but around the player himself.
Suddenly he is tied up on the ground while bullets whiz around him. The NPC, on the other hand, crouches in the corner as if there were still a threat from zzzenix. But he remains tied up. Although it is not clear how the situation ends, he probably did not survive.

Players in reddit celebrate the clip: In the related reddit thread, zzzenix shares that the bug reoccurred several times during subsequent attempts, preventing him from successfully completing the bounty.
Other users, however, celebrate the clip and highlight the situation with funny comments:
- shadeofnigh: “Dude, he must have used the reverse card against you.”.
- Cela2880: “Every time I see a bug, I think: ‘That must have been the worst glitch of all time. It makes no sense.’ Then I saw this one.”.
- RjGoombes: “New legendary bounty: Houdini.”.
Currently, the clip is ranked 5th among the most popular threads on reddit (as of March 4, 7:30 PM).
Bugs in Red Dead Redemption are not uncommon
What other bugs are there? Red Dead Redemption 2 is a massive game and also features an online mode. This mode seems particularly prone to errors:
- Currently 2-headed skeletons are hunting players, but they are not very powerful. They have previously fled from pistols.
- In other bizarre situations, animal corpses stacked up, which could even earn you money.
- But mods can also lead to problems, explosions, or money scams.

How is the online mode performing? Despite the bugs and issues, the online mode is gaining momentum in 2020. The Moonshiners update is said to have created a surge among players.
However, this surge was surpassed again in January 2020. According to Take-Two’s earnings call, the revenues from Red Dead Online in the 4th quarter of 2019 compared to the previous year have almost tripled.
A proud figure that also led our author Patrick Freese to question whether RDR2’s online mode could compete with that of GTA V:
