If you want to complete world quests in WoW: Battle for Azeroth, you first need to unlock them. A few requirements are necessary.
World quests are important in World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth. Many players want to start with world quests right away to prepare for dungeons and later for raids or PvP – but they may be missing. In this small guide, we will show you how to unlock World Quests in Battle for Azeroth.
Update: This article was originally published in 2018. We updated it on 29.10.2020 with the latest information from WoW Patch 9.0.
WoW Guide: Requirements for World Quests in Battle for Azeroth
The maximum level is required: After the level squish, the most important requirement for unlocking world quests is reaching level 50. Before that, world quests are not offered at Kul Tiras and Zandalar.
Reputation with three factions: To unlock world quests, a character must have friendly reputation with three different factions from Battle for Azeroth.
- Horde players need friendly reputation with:
- Zandalari Empire
- Talanji’s Expedition
- Voldunai
- Alliance players need friendly reputation with:
- Order of Embers
- The Storm’s Wake
- 7th Legion
To achieve this reputation, it is usually sufficient to complete some quests in all three zones of your own faction. After just a few quests per area, the requirement is fulfilled. Only with the Order of Embers in Drustvar does it take a bit longer, as the quest line grants reputation only later – but a large amount then.
Advance the war campaign: Most players overlook this step. To unlock world quests, the war campaign must be advanced. You need to play it until you have established a base in all three areas of the opposing faction. The war campaign always starts on the respective ship of your faction in Boralus or Dazar’alor. In doing so, you also unlock the island expeditions “by the way”.
Whistle as a reward: When all requirements are met, you can turn in the quest “The Unity of Kul Tiras” (Alliance) or “The Unity of Zandalar” (Horde) on your ship. This unlocks the world quests on both continents and also grants the flight master’s whistle. With this, you can teleport directly to a flight master.
If you already have a whistle from Legion, it will just be upgraded.
What do world quests offer? World quests are one of the fundamental endgame activities of WoW: Battle for Azeroth, especially for new characters at max level. They not only provide reputation, gold, and artifact power, but often reward good equipment that eases access to dungeons and raids.
Are you still having fun with world quests? Or are you already eagerly awaiting the next expansion Shadowlands?
