In Fortnite: Battle Royale there is now a new mode where you can unlock a free glider. We will show you what kind of glider it is and what you need to do to get it.
What kind of glider is it? As a reward for winning in the new mode “The Impossible Escape”, players receive a special prehistoric glider as a gift. The escape umbrella is decorated with red drawings reminiscent of prehistoric times. The umbrella fits perfectly with the ongoing Season 6, where velociraptors populate the island and serves as a nice memento.
This umbrella is now available for free to all players who manage to survive in the new mode. Here’s what the glider looks like:
How to get the Escape Umbrella
What do you need to do? To get the special glider for free, you need to play and win the new mode “The Impossible Escape”. This new mode is a game that is somewhat reminiscent of the PvE mode “Save the World”. You start on the island and must gather weapons and helicopter parts, team up with other players, fight against opponents and predators, and ultimately repair a chopper for the escape.
If you want the glider for free, you need to win the PvP version of the mode – you can find it in the mode menu, which also contains the regular modes. Select the PvP version, start a game, and you’re off.
Important: In the PvP version, there is only one chopper (in the PvE version, there are three) that can be repaired, and the other players you encounter can also attack you. The mode is therefore significantly more difficult, as you will not only be attacked by wild animals, and it may take a while before you win.
If you successfully reach one of the escape points with the chopper and win the round, you will receive the special Escape Umbrella as a reward. Additionally, everyone who manages to escape with you in the helicopter will also receive the glider – so it is worthwhile to cooperate with other players, as you will struggle to escape alone.
Until when is the mode available? “The Impossible Escape” is a limited-time mode – you can still play it, in both versions, until Tuesday, May 25, 2021, at 3:00 PM German time. After that, the mode will disappear, thus ending the opportunity to unlock the glider.
What else is there: If you win the PvE version, you will receive the loading screen “Almost Impossible” as a gift. So checking out this version of the new mode could also be worthwhile. There, you do not have to fight against other players, but only against wild animals and bots.
In this mode, you can experience Fortnite a bit differently than on the usual battlefield. The fact that Fortnite is generally different has also been noticed by MeinMMO editor Jürgen Horn. He is back in the game after a longer break and thinks: “Fortnite feels more like an MMORPG than Battle Royale now.”
