New World does some things differently than classic MMORPGs. The focus is much more on crafting and collecting materials. It often happens that the inventory overflows and thus you move more slowly through the world. We will reveal how you can manage your inventory better and sell items.
Can items be easily sold? Sort of. In New World, there are no traditional merchants who buy your items for a few coins. This is very unusual for MMORPGs.
However, there are alternative ways to sell:
- You can sell items at the trading post to other players. However, this incurs a trading fee.
- You can trade directly on-site with other players. However, you need to have other players nearby.
If you cannot or do not want to sell your items directly, you have three additional alternatives:
- In settlements, you can store your materials and access them later. However, be aware that each storage is tied to the corresponding settlement.
- You can break down found equipment to gain materials for repairs and simultaneously reduce weight.
- You can simply pull items out of your inventory and drop them. They will no longer weigh down your inventory weight and will remain in the world for 3 minutes before despawning.
If you do not want to constantly run back to a settlement because you are at maximum weight, you have another alternative. Over time, you will unlock additional bag slots. This will increase your inventory weight limit.
Use bags to collect more materials
How do you craft a bag? There are 4 different tiers of bags, and they can be crafted as an armorsmith in the tailoring profession:

You can obtain the Holding Rune from your faction trader or buy it at the trading post.
You can also add special resources when crafting. These provide bonus effects such as making wood or leather weigh less in your inventory.
How many bag slots are there? At levels 10, 30, and 45, you will unlock an additional bag each time. Theoretically, you can increase your weight from 200 to 1,100 with the 3 large bags.
What else can be done for more storage space? If you need additional storage, you can buy a house and store items in chests there. Additionally, you regularly receive territory reputation. There, you can increase the number of storage slots in the settlement of the respective area.
