Bethesda’s survival MMO Fallout 76 wants everyone to feel comfortable, and no one to be constantly killed in PvP. That’s why there are special protections for low-level players!
What is PvP in Fallout 76 all about? Since Fallout 76 was announced as a pure online game without NPCs, players have been worried about PvP. Many fans would rather explore the wasteland in peace and deal with monsters. Other players as opponents are not to everyone’s taste.
That’s why Bethesda developer Todd Howard published some details about PvP in an interview with the Italian gaming website Multiplayer.it that should alleviate some concerns.
Protection for New Players up to Level 5
Ganking and Griefing as a Problem: In many survival games, it is a major problem when high-level and well-equipped players prey on low-level characters and repeatedly kill them. Such griefing can quickly take the joy out of the game.
Newbies are immortal: Therefore, in Fallout 76, a simple solution is expected to be offered: Below level 5, you are virtually immortal and can never be completely killed in PvP! This is meant to allow PvP newcomers to gradually get accustomed to fighting against other players without being completely overwhelmed right away.
PvP is optional: This statement from Howard fits well with the known information about PvP so far. Those who do not want to participate should be able to easily avoid the fights. Furthermore, you do not lose all your equipment upon death and bounties are placed on griefers.
Fast Travel is Planned
Another problem in survival games is often the large map. To get from one place to another, you often have to make long treks on foot. That’s why, according to Todd Howard, there will be a fast travel system.
However, the developer did not specify exactly how it will work. Most likely, it will only work to certain locations, as exploration is supposed to be an important part of the game.
Fallout 76 will be released on November 14, 2018. By then, more information about PvP and the game world is likely to be revealed. By the way, you can already sign up for the beta test.
