A huge bug causes players to not see four characters from Red Dead Redemption 2 correctly.
In Red Dead Redemption 2, players may not see part of their gang due to a bug. This game-breaking bug has been confirmed by several players.
Where are John, Sadie, Abigail, and Jack?
The camp in Red Dead Redemption 2 is an important place to interact with various gang members. However, according to some Reddit users, there are issues occurring now. The four characters John, Sadie, Abigail, and Jack might be disappearing.
It seems that many players are currently affected by a bug in Red Dead Redemption 2. This occurs when starting Uncle’s mission in chapter 2.
What kind of bug is this? On Reddit, user Lasypanda writes: Huge game-breaking bug. “As soon as you reach the second chapter, you first talk to John, Abigail, Jack, and Sadie. Don’t start with Uncle’s mission first.”
If you do start with Uncle’s mission, John, Sadie, Abigail, and Jack might go missing. You would only see them in scripted missions.
Other users on Reddit confirm the bug. They also do not see the characters in the camp and wonder why they cannot find them.

- Save your game at the start of the second chapter
- Talk to John, Sadie, Abigail, and Jack
- Sleep until night. Make sure all characters are still there
- Now start any mission. Except the mission with Uncle
- Check if the characters are still in the camp
- Enjoy the game
The user mentions that he is not sure if this always fixes the issue. It worked for him twice in two attempts.
May return on their own: Some users say that the characters would automatically return in chapter 4. However, they will not be visible until then.
Update: Rockstar releases patch to fix this bug
Many players have complained about this issue because the characters are missing in the camp. The developers at Rockstar are currently working on a solution for this problem. On the Q&A Support page, it states:
If you completed the mission ‘Fine Society, Valentine Style’ at the beginning of chapter 2 but had to use the ‘Reload Checkpoint’ function, then Sadie, Jack, John, and Abigail will only appear in the camp when they have missions you need to complete. We are aware of the issue and are currently working on a solution that will be included in an upcoming title update.
An exact date for this patch is not known.
This solution is suggested by Rockstar: While the developers are working on the patch, they share the following workaround. If you have not yet completed the mission “Fine Society, Valentine Style”, you should do so without using a checkpoint. If you fail the mission, you should abort it completely and restart, or load an earlier save and then restart it.
And what if the characters are already missing? If you are already far past the mission and do not want to load an earlier save, you must wait for chapter 4. Then the characters will return.
