The hack and slash Torchlight 3 faced heavy criticism upon the launch of its Early Access phase on Steam. Now, a large update with a new story act is being released. We take a look at how the action RPG is doing now.
How did the launch of Torchlight 3 go? On June 13, the Early Access phase of the action RPG Torchlight 3 began. However, there was a lot of criticism. Some players found the combat system too slow, and the areas were deemed simple and linear. Players also felt that character development was not complex enough, and the game, according to some, seemed more like a mobile game.
Steam reviews increase from 34% to 43%
How is the hack and slash doing now? The rating on Steaam has improved from an initial 34% to now 43%. While this is only a small increase, it seems to be slowly getting better. The aforementioned criticisms still apply to some players and are being discussed in the community, but there are increasingly more positive voices.
- Mendokusai writes on Steam: “I can only recommend this game in its current state. But only because the developers listen to feedback. If you really want this game to turn into Torchlight 3 and be worthy of the name Torchlight, then buy it, play it, and give feedback. Help the game grow.”
- Burntp0pcorn says: “I love the game. But I’ve never played another Torchlight before.”
- Misty_Roses explains: “I think it’s overall a good game and will be in the end. But I would advise for now to save your money until it’s a bit more finished, and we see where the journey goes. That’s the only reason I’m giving it a thumbs down. I love the Torchlight series, even though this game is a bit rough. I hope it gets optimized in the future and that the developers fix all the issues the game has.”
How is the game evolving? Today, on June 30, a major update for Torchlight 3 is being released. This brings the third act with the new setting Echonok into the game.
- The story continues. You will learn how things progress with Veriss, who carries the Heart of the Void and can merge the world of humans and Netherim.
- You explore new locations and dungeons by visiting the ancient halls of the dwarves and searching for treasures.
- You fight additional bosses and enemies, including the Voltura, a mix of birds and machines.
- You collect valuable loot.
It will be interesting to see how the rating of Torchlight 3 changes after the release of the Third Act.
