„The Catch” is a new spear for free-to-play players in Genshin Impact. However, it’s not so easy to obtain. We at MeinMMO will explain how you can efficiently get the weapon.
Once you’ve unlocked fishing and gained access to Inazuma, you can look forward to the new spear “The Catch”, which is among the best free-to-play options for the character Raiden Shogun.
Where can you find “The Catch”? In Inazuma, there is an NPC named Kujirai Momiji near the teleporter south of the Byakko fields. She stands directly on the beach in the area. There, you can exchange captured fish for the spear and its refinement material.

What do you need to obtain the spear “The Catch”? To obtain the spear at refinement level 1, you need to catch a total of 46 fish:
- 20x Rusty Koi
- 20x Golden Koi
- 6x Raimei Giant Fish
To increase the refinement level, you need the item “Akos Sake Vessel”. You can find this item again in the shop of Kujirai Momiji, and you need to catch 23 fish each to receive one.
- 3x Raimei Giant Fish
- 10x Pufferfish
- 10x Bitter Pufferfish
What bait do you need? Every fish responds to a different type of bait. The following baits must be used for the fish of “The Catch”:
- Rusty Koi, Golden Koi, Pufferfish, and Bitter Pufferfish: Fake Fly Bait
- Raimei Giant Fish: Fake Worm Bait

Unfortunately, you cannot see exactly where the fishing spots are and which fish inhabit them, so we have summarized all the locations you need for the spear.
Golden Koi and Rusty Koi
Where are the Rusty Koi and Golden Koi located? Both types of koi are usually found together. There are three fishing spots in Liyue and one in Inazuma. Additionally, there are two fishing spots in Mondstadt, each hosting one type.
Fishing spots in Liyue:
- Northwest of the Wangshu Inn, on the beach, where there is also a teleporter nearby
- At Luhua Pool, directly above the sphere located there
- At the broken bridge that leads to the Guili Plains, directly west of the teleporter
In Inazuma, you can find the kois at Seirai Island east of the teleporter from Koseki Village.
In Mondstadt, you can find the Rusty Koi east of the capital, north of the Whispering Woods. The easiest way to reach this spot is via the teleporter northwest of the sphere. The Golden Koi is located to the south of the Anemo Hypostasis. You can quickly get there via the teleporter nearby.
For both types of koi, it does not matter what time of day you go fishing.

The beach in Liyue
Raimei Giant Fish
Where is the Raimei Giant Fish located? You can actually only find this fish at a single fishing spot in Inazuma. This is located south of the Kujou camp, in the middle of the sea, among the many shipwrecks, which appear on the map like many small islands.
The easiest way to reach the spot is by taking the teleporter east of Tatarasuna in Kannazuka and calling your Waverider there. With this, you sail to the fishing spot.
If it’s currently daytime for you, set the clock to night. This fish only appears after 6 PM. Additionally, there are only about four to five of them at the spot, and a maximum of only four will be shown. If you fish one out, another might respawn.
To catch all six Raimei Giant Fish you need, you either have to wait about 48 to 72 hours or go into a friend’s world.
Pufferfish and Bitter Pufferfish
Where are the Pufferfish and Bitter Pufferfish located? Both types of pufferfish can be found together at two locations in Mondstadt and at one location in Inazuma. Additionally, there are two separate locations for each type in Inazuma and Liyue.
Fishing spots in Mondstadt with both types of pufferfish:
- Northwest of the teleporter directly north of Hues of Daybreak
- Southwest of the Daybreak Winery. The easiest way to reach this is via the sphere at the edge of the Dragonspine. From there, head north, jump from the hill, and glide to the small island.
In Inazuma, you can find the fishing spot with both types of pufferfish at the dock of Ritou, where you first landed in Inazuma.
Fishing spots that only have pufferfish:
- Liyue: From the sphere where you meet Childe, continue eastwards into the sea where a mountain leads in. Near the top of this mountain is the fishing spot.
- Inazuma: East of Koseki Village on Seirai Island. Opposite the fishing spot where you can also fish for kois.
Fishing spots that only have Bitter Pufferfish:
- West of the Okeanid, directly northeast of the teleporter in Qingce Village
- At Nazuchi Stand, which connects Kannazuka and Yashiori. Directly north, west of the right teleporter
Both types of pufferfish can be caught both day and night.
