While the latest expansion Greymoor is just around the corner, we have a tip for you on how to bridge the time until then. And in doing so, you will be rewarded with the coolest helmet in the game: Cadwell’s Helmet of Heroism.
What kind of helmet is this? To be precise, the helmet is a headpiece. You can access it in ESO through your collection, covering your head slot or that of your costume.
As the name suggests, you get the helmet from the iconic Cadwell. The somewhat crazy NPC encounters you already in the first tutorial. He wears a slightly different version of the hat popular among conspiracy theorists, namely a pot. We at MeinMMO explain how you can farm this for your own character.
Questing, questing, questing
To secure Cadwell’s Helmet of Heroism, you need to complete two missions for Cadwell in the refuge. However, for him to appear there, you must first have completed the main story of the base game. You can find out how to start it in our guide.
The two missions are called Cadwell’s Silver and Cadwell’s Gold. They take you into the areas of the respective other factions, where you need to complete a lot of quests. But luckily, not all of them, just selected ones.
Cadwell reached out to me with the offer to see what the course of events would have been if I had washed ashore on the shores of a different alliance after escaping Coldharbour.
Journal in the game
This is Cadwell’s Silver: Depending on your alliance at the start of the game, you will be teleported by Cadwell to a different faction:
- The Daggerfall Covenant lands on Khenarthis’ Roost at the Aldmeri Dominion
- Players of the Aldmeri Dominion venture to Wrothgar to the Ebonheart Pact
- The Ebonheart Pact finds itself at Stros M’Kai in the Daggerfall Covenant
There, you will face the main story of the respective alliance. From Cadwell, you will receive an almanac as part of the quest. In this, you will find written which quests you need to complete. Once you have survived that, you can collect your reward from Cadwell.
This is Cadwell’s Gold: With the first quest Cadwell’s Silver, however, you cannot yet call the hat your own. You must first complete the follow-up quest. This takes you to the area that you have not yet completed:
- The Daggerfall Covenant will face quests from the Ebonheart Pact
- With the Aldmeri Dominion, you must focus on the quests of the Daggerfall Covenant
- Players of the Ebonheart Pact are sent to the Aldmeri Dominion
If you have also completed all quests from Cadwell’s almanac there, you will be greeted with Cadwell’s Helmet of Heroism upon turning it in.
With an almanac to success
Both the almanac for Cadwell’s Silver and Cadwell’s Gold unlock a tab in your journal. There, you will see the first quest list displayed under the silver symbol and the second under the gold.
This is what Cadwell’s almanac includes: Together, these two lists encompass a total of 152 quests. So you have a lot to do on your way to the helmet. The missions are distributed over the following areas:

- Stormhaven (18 quests)
- Rift (8 quests)
- Alik’r Desert (6 quests)
- Bangkorai (6 quests)
- Aldmeri Dominion:

As you can see, the quest series is extremely lengthy. On the one hand, you must have completed your main story to even start.
On the other hand, you must quest through many more areas. And Tamriel is huge and tends to become even larger rather than actually more compact.
However, you will learn a lot about the story of The Elder Scrolls Online. Moreover, you might see areas and characters that you would never have encountered before. And the most important thing – you get the best headpiece in the game.
