Blizzard will help to reunite old friends. But you need to participate to find your old WoW buddies again.
The beginnings of World of Warcraft are now almost 15 years ago. Those who were in a guild with many friends back then may have lost sight of these friends over the years. Some have quit the game or completely withdrawn from gaming. But with WoW Classic, Blizzard wants to give players a chance to reconnect with old friends.
How does it work? In the official forum, the Community Manager Toschayju started a thread that leads to a whole chain of further posts. Here, players take turns selecting where they played back then and answering the following questions:
- Were you active in the Horde or the Alliance?
- Did you play on a normal, PvP, RP, or RP-PvP realm?
- On which realm were you active?
After that, you’ll end up in a thread that exactly matches your realm and faction. There, you will have to create a post yourself.

What should be included in the post? The idea is to create a “player registry” from back then. Therefore, you should mention the following things in a post:
- Name, race, and class of your character
- The guilds in which you actively played
- The names of characters you want to reconnect with
It is important that you do not include any real-life information about other people. Real names or other real-life information have no place in the official Blizzard forum, and such posts will be deleted.
Does it even work? The whole system only works if many players participate. The more people you can get to create a post in the relevant areas, the more likely it is that networks will form and players will find each other again through several connections.
A tip for the end: It might be worth searching on old hard drives or computers for screenshots from the past. You often discover some familiar characters you might have forgotten by now.
