Oil is a crafting material in New World, primarily needed for steel bars. We at MeinMMO will tell you at what level and where exactly you can find oil.
What is oil used for? Oil is used for the production of steel bars. This material is used for almost all armor and weapon parts at level 3. It is essentially required for leveling professions.
Where can you find oil? You can find oil only in bogs, as the in-game legend shows you. You can call it up using the map (“M”).
Currently, you will find oil almost exclusively in the weaver bog in the northern part of the game world. The area is aimed at players level 26+, and most of the oil can be found just below the settlement from the so-called seep stones.
Helpful in searching for materials is this interactive map by players, which shows exactly where you can find oil.
When can you mine oil? To mine oil, you need level 20 in mining. At level 45, you can even make oil visible on the map, which makes finding it easier. You need a pickaxe to mine.
Since oil only exists in this location, the material is currently very popular. Allegedly, the respawn takes about 10 minutes before you can mine the seep stone again.
An alternative to obtaining oil is the trading post. There you can buy the material from other players.
