In Fortnite: Battle Royale there is now a new sword in all game modes that grants you superpowers. But where is the sword and how do you use it? And what do you do if an enemy has the blade?
The new sword “Infinity Blade” has been in the game since Update 7.01. The sword does not have its own game mode explicitly. It spawns in every Fortnite match, including limited time modes such as Close Encounters or Team Rumble.
But where is the sword and what can it do?
Location of the Sword
Where can I find the sword? The sword is actually easy to find. Because every time the game begins, it is stuck in a stone in Excalibur fashion in the newly uncovered courtyard of the castle at the new location Polar Peak since Season 7. You can recognize the courtyard by the small walls and the columns around it.
Here’s how to get the sword: The sword is always there, so many players will head there right at the beginning of the game to take it. Therefore, you must either land very quickly or be cunning.
Because it’s not enough to just tap the blade briefly. To claim the sword, you need to pull it out of the stone for several seconds, during which time you will get knocked out or shot by other players.
If you see that a horde of enemies is already around the sword, you’d better go to a nearby building in the freshly uncovered village and get a weapon. With that, you can take down the weakened competition around the sword and claim it for yourself.
But watch out: on the one hand, other players have this idea too and might grab the firearms before you. And if you take too long, another player might have already picked up the sword, and you’ll run right into the open blade.
At close range, the sword bearer is extremely deadly, and with his combined total of 400 shield and health points, he is virtually unbeatable. If you manage to eliminate the sword bearer, he drops the blade, and you can use it yourself.
How to Use the Sword
What can the sword do? The sword instantly heals you to 200 health and shield points when picked up for the first time. You move 30 percent faster and heal 1 health point per second, and when this is at 200, you can heal up to 200 shield points. If you score a kill, you instantly gain 50 health or shield points.
This is the main attack of the sword: The primary fire button deals 75 damage with a sword slash. So you need at most 3 slashes to kill any opponent. If you hit a building or object, it is immediately destroyed, and you receive the full resources credited. The sword is perfect for farming materials.
This is the alternative ability of the blade: The secondary fire button allows you to make a jump forward. During this, you break through obstacles and deal 25 damage in the area upon landing.
If you then hit an unshielded enemy with a regular hit right after, that’s a kill! Keep in mind that you can also activate the jump while you are falling or in the air in some other way. This way, you can avoid fall damage.
What should you consider when you have the sword? You are extremely strong in close combat but must get very close to the enemy. A well-aimed shotgun blast can cause you trouble quickly, so make sure to take down players with assault rifles or other ranged weapons quickly.
You can still build and create cover for yourself if you come under fire.
When you fight, you need to kill your opponent quickly. Because you only get 50 health back when you secure the kill. If you have taken more damage, it takes time for you to regenerate it by yourself.
As a sword bearer, you cannot carry any other weapons or items. Everything you are carrying will be dropped when you pick up the sword. If you want to pick things up as a sword bearer, you need to drop the sword. So consider carefully if you can afford to do that.
How to Counter the Sword!
What do you do if the enemy has the sword? Your enemy must get very close to you. If you can fire at him from a distance, then do it! If the enemy quickly comes closer, deal him as much damage as possible with the shotgun or an SMG, so he goes down. Aim for the head!
Planes are also good counters, as the flying turrets are hardly reachable for the sword bearer. Additionally, it may be clever to lay traps around you when the sword bearer approaches. Because he can only reach you in close combat and might trigger the traps.
But always keep in mind that buildings and barricades will not protect you; the sword bearer breaks through those effortlessly. Stay in motion and make every shot count, so you can wear down the sword master and possibly defeat him.
