Virizion is now available in Pokémon GO. You can easily defeat the legendary Pokémon in pairs. We will show you how to do it at level 30.
How long is Virizion available? Since December 17, Virizion appears in legendary raids. It will be available until January 7, after which it will disappear for a while.
Virizion has a double weakness, which is why you can defeat it in pairs as early as level 30. However, you need to bring the right Pokémon.
Defeating Virizion in Duo – Here’s how
These are good counters: Virizion is of the types Grass and Fighting. Therefore, the types Poison, Fire, Ice, Psychic, Fairy, and Flying are effective. It has a double weakness against the Flying type.
Thus, Flying Pokémon are particularly useful. The top counters include Lavados, Kramshef, and Rayquaza. You can find the list of the best counters against Virizion here.
Here’s how you can defeat Virizion more easily: The right weather and a high friendship level will help you in the raid. So consider these factors before you start the battle.
For our calculations, we have only taken the friendship level into account. You can succeed with the counters provided below in any weather.
Defeating Virizion at Level 30 – Here’s how
Meet these requirements: At level 30, you need the highest friendship level. You can then choose from 4 Pokémon at level 30 to defeat Virizion.
Use these Pokémon: If you bring these 4 monsters with the right moves, you will be successful:
- Lavados with Wing Attack and Sky Attack
- Kramshef with Peck and Sky Attack
- Rayquaza with Air Slash and Aerial Ace
- Fasasnob with Air Slash and Sky Attack
Defeating Virizion at Level 35 – Here’s how
Meet these requirements: At this level, the friendship level is not as critical anymore. You can also use the counters mentioned above without a high friendship level. If you need more options, however, you should rely on best friends.
Use this Pokémon: Only one Pokémon at level 35 is applicable. Another monster needs even higher levels to succeed in a duo:

Defeating Virizion at Level 40 – Here’s how
Meet these challenges: Regardless of the friendship level, you can use the top 4 counters at level 40. If you still have the right friendship level, you can bring one more Pokémon.
Use these Pokémon: Only Togekiss can reach level 40 in a duo against Virizion without weather bonuses. To give you more options, we will also show you Pokémon that can be used in the right weather:
- Togekiss with Air Slash and Aerial Ace
- Ho-Oh with Hidden Power Flying and Brave Bird (only in wind)
- Zapdos with Thunder Shock and Peck (only in wind)
- Lugia with Dragon Tail and Sky Attack (only in wind)
- Staraptor with Wing Attack and Brave Bird (only in wind)
- Yanmega with Wing Attack and Aerial Ace (only in wind)
- Swellow with Wing Attack and Sky Attack (only in wind)

How difficult will the battle be? If you fight with the top counters, it won’t be really hard. You should even have some time left. However, if you experiment with Pokémon like Togekiss or Fearow, it may get a bit tighter.
What to keep in mind: Although Virizion is vulnerable to numerous types, only the Flying type is suitable for a duo (with Mewtwo as the exception). So primarily rely on Flying Pokémon in battle.
