This level you need: If you use the right Pokémon, you can even be at level 25 with four players to defeat Mewtwo – all without weather bonuses. Previously, Mewtwo was even easier to defeat, but due to changes in status values, it is now stronger in the raid.
Here you have the chance at Mewtwo: The Psychic Pokémon is now returning to raids for a week. From September 16 at 10 PM to September 23 at 10 PM, you can encounter Mewtwo in raids.
How to defeat Mewtwo with four players
Use these counters: Three types are effective against Mewtwo: Bug, Dark, and Ghost. The best counter Pokémon are of the Ghost type.
These bonuses you can take advantage of: Fight best with friends who have a high friendship level. This helps you immensely in battle. For our calculations, we always assumed the highest friendship level.
The right weather is also crucial. You can rely more on Bug Pokémon in rainy weather. Ghost and Dark types get boosted in fog, but this weather condition is extremely rare. However, we did not take the weather into account in our calculations.
How to defeat Mewtwo at level 25
Meet these requirements: If you are around level 25, it’s logically not very easy for you. You can only use one Pokémon to defeat Mewtwo with four players. The high friendship level is essential here.
Use these Pokémon: The selection is very limited here. However, Giratina can do quite well at level 25.

How to defeat Mewtwo at level 30
Meet these requirements: If you fight with the Pokémon mentioned above, you should not have major problems even at a not perfect friendship level.
Use these Pokémon: You can use 5 more Pokémon in battle, as long as they are at level 30. This includes 2 new monsters from Gen 5:
- Skelabra with Curse and Shadow Ball
- Trikephalo with Bite and Dark Pulse
- Tyranitar with Bite and Crunch
- Mewtwo with Psycho Cut and Shadow Ball (This attack is no longer available)
- Gengar with Shadow Claw/Lick and Shadow Ball
How to defeat Mewtwo at level 35
Meet these requirements: If you use Giratina, Mewtwo, or Skelabra, there are almost no more requirements. Even without high friendship levels, you can easily defeat it with four players.
Use these Pokémon: You can add 2 more Pokémon to your battle team if they are also at level 35:
- Snibunna with Feint and Leech Life
- Absol with Howl and Dark Pulse
How to defeat Mewtwo at level 40
Meet these requirements: With the top counters, you will have no problems at level 40. Here you can easily defeat Mewtwo with four players.
Use these Pokémon: Anyone who wants to experiment with their Pokémon can also use various inconspicuous Pokémon at level 40:
- Houndoom with Howl and Leech Life
- Pinsir with Bug Bite and X-Scissor
- Drifblim with Shadow Sneak and Shadow Ball
- Banette with Shadow Claw and Shadow Ball
- Raikou with Thunder Shock and Shadow Ball
- Scizor with Fury Cutter and X-Scissor
This is how hard it really is to defeat Mewtwo: You can only defeat Mewtwo with three players in foggy weather and a team of the top counters.
With four players, Mewtwo is quite easy to take down. The important thing is that you have the right Pokémon with the right moves. Only then does it work even at lower levels.
