October 2018 brings new raid bosses in Pokémon GO. We will show you in our solo raid guide how to conquer each level 3 raid alone and which Pokémon you need for that.
In October, you can expect five different level 3 raids. Each of them can be tackled solo. We will list for you how you can defeat the monsters.
We will show you which other raid bosses are waiting in Pokémon GO this month here.
Lepumentas, Rossana, and Co.
In Pokémon GO, the selection of tier 3 raids in October is particularly psychic. If you are wondering why you should even battle them, take a closer look at the Celebi quest guide. In chapter 7, you need to catch 40 grass or psychic-type Pokémon.
Alolan Raichu

- Max. CP: 1224 (1531 with weather bonus)
- Type: Electric/Psychic
- Weaknesses: Ground, Dark, Ghost, Bug
- Best counters: Mewtwo, Tyranitar, Gengar
- Alternative counters: Groudon, Houndoom, Banette, Absol, Pinsir
- Note: Alolan Raichu has various weaknesses and thus many Pokémon that are strong against this monster. It is sufficient if the above-mentioned Pokémon are at level 25+. With that, every Alolan Raichu should be easy to handle.
- Difficulty: Easy
Rossana
- Max. CP: 1435 (1794 with weather bonus)
- Type: Ice/Psychic
- Weaknesses: Fire, Rock, Dark, Ghost, Bug, Steel
- Best counters: Zapdos, Entei, Flareon, Mewtwo, Gengar
- Alternative counters: Tyranitar, Charizard, Metagross, Blaziken, Arcanine, Houndoom
- Note: Rossana has even more weaknesses than Alolan Raichu. Moreover, it has particularly low HP and defense values, making it quickly defeated. If you use the right Pokémon, Rossana should not pose a problem.
- Difficulty: Easy
Starmie
- Max. CP: 1316 (1645 with weather bonus)
- Type: Water/Psychic
- Weaknesses: Electric, Grass, Dark, Ghost, Bug
- Best counters: Raikou, Mewtwo, Gengar,
- Alternative counters: Zapdos, Tyranitar, Venusaur, Exeggutor, Sceptile, Jolteon, Absol
- Note: Starmie also has several weaknesses. Its values are not designed to withstand much. You should be able to defeat it easily.
- Difficulty: Medium
Alakazam

- Max. CP: 1649 (2062 with weather bonus)
- Type: Psychic
- Weaknesses: Dark, Ghost, Bug
- Best counters: Mewtwo, Tyranitar, Gengar
- Alternative counters: Banette, Absol, Houndoom, Scyther, Pinsir
- Note: Alakazam is definitely one of the more difficult raid bosses. Your Pokémon should be at least level 30, preferably even level 35+. Due to the high attack value of Alakazam, it is advisable to dodge during charge attacks. Alakazam’s Focus Blast hits Tyranitar particularly hard, and its fast attack Confusion hits every Pokémon hard. If you have a strong fighting team and can dodge, you should be able to defeat Alakazam.
- Difficulty: Hard
Lepumentas
- Max. CP: 1018 (1272 with weather bonus)
- Type: Ground/Psychic
- Weaknesses: Water, Grass, Ice, Dark, Ghost, Bug
- Best counters: Kyogre, Gengar, Gyarados, Mewtwo, Tyranitar
- Note: Lepumentas is probably the hardest T3 raid on this list. Only a team of maximum Kyogre can surely defeat the raid boss. Gengar can theoretically do it too, but it needs the fast attack “Dark Claw,” which it cannot learn anymore. If it rains, you can utilize the weather bonus of Gyarados. The same applies to windy weather with Mewtwo. If you don’t have either of those situations, it would be better for solo players to refrain from tackling Lepumentas. This is where experts are needed!
- Difficulty: Very hard
Mewtwo, the all-purpose weapon: Every current 3-player raid is of the psychic type and therefore vulnerable to ghost attacks. Mewtwo with Shadow Ball is very effective against all Pokémon. If you want to participate in more 3-player raids this month, you will do well by strengthening such a Mewtwo.
What other moves Mewtwo can learn now, you can find out here.
What do you think of the new raid bosses? Are you challenging any of the level 3 raids alone?
