In World of Warcraft there is a new mount in the shop. The flying rat “Quieks” costs normally 25€. However, you can also obtain the mount in other ways – possibly even cheaper (for you).
What kind of mount is that? Quieks is a flying rat introduced by Blizzard as a reference to the Chinese New Year. In the Chinese calendar, 2020 is the “Year of the Rat” – hence the mount.
Quieks is a white giant rodent with a red saddle in a Chinese style, jade green balls (in the style of the Pandaren or Mogu) and an ornament on its head that looks a bit like a fez.
Quieks is not only a ground mount but can also fly. It automatically adjusts to your riding skill. When the rat is in the air, it has tiny green wings. There is also a short introduction video:
How do I get Quieks? Normally, Quieks is available for purchase in the shop for 25€. If that is too expensive for you, there are other options available.
Buy Quieks for gold or get it as a gift
This is how you buy the new mount with gold: You can easily buy Quieks with gold. Simply use the WoW token. You can purchase this token in the auction house at a price determined by supply and demand.
Currently, a token costs 230,196 gold (as of January 17 at 11:30 AM) and you can exchange it for €13 Battle.net credit (or one month of game time). Therefore, you need two tokens or 460,392 gold for Quieks. Maybe you will get lucky and a stranger gifts you the gold.
Redeem the tokens for money and easily get the mount from the shop in the Blizzard launcher. Make sure to specify that you use Battle.net credit as the payment source.
How do I get Quieks for free? Quieks is also given by Blizzard as a gift. If you purchase a 6-month subscription or renew an active subscription, you receive Quieks as a gift.
You can simply pick up the gift in the launcher and get the rat directly into your collection.
Note that you cannot buy the 6-month subscription with tokens! You can only acquire Quieks either with real money, directly with the tokens, or with the subscription.
Players find Quieks cute
This is how the flying rat is received: Some of the last shop mounts, the alabaster mounts, were received very poorly by players. Quieks, on the other hand, delights them and there are positive reactions to the rat in the forum.
Many find Quieks simply cute. User Zunks thinks the rat mount is “really sweet”. Shortly after I received the mount in WoW, I was contacted with the comment: “Oh, how cool is that? Looks awesome!”
However, some players also note that the new mount feels like a “cash grab”. They don’t like that Blizzard is selling more and more mounts for money, like user Aguon.
In general, the mood is currently somewhat low in the US forum, as the current patch 8.3 has received mixed reactions that are often quite negative. Most users are rather annoyed that some players always seem to look for the negative.
