Raid Day with Raikou in June – All Info and Bonuses
When: On Saturday, June 29, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM German time
Pokémon of the day: Raikou
Bonus: Shiny Raikou comes into the game for the first time
Bonus: 5 free raid passes are available
This is how the Raid Day runs: At exactly 4 PM, a Raikou raid will appear at all gyms that are not currently holding an EX raid. This will last for 3 hours and you can complete as many raids as possible.
At 7 PM, the event will be over. Raikou will disappear from the gyms, and the regular raid bosses will take over again.
Shiny Raikou at the Raid Day
Will there be a Shiny Raikou? Niantic has already confirmed that you will encounter Shiny Raikou for the first time. Therefore, it is worth doing the raids, because afterwards, Raikou will likely disappear from the raids for a while.
How likely is it to get Shiny Raikou? During the last Raid Day with Lapras, the Shiny chance was significantly increased. It was about 1 in 10. Usually, legendary raid bosses have a rate of 1 in 19. So the probability will settle somewhere around here.
How can I complete many raids?
That’s why the raids are worth it: Within the 3 hours, the raids are really worth it, because there is both a new shiny and Raikou is, together with Electivire, the best electric attacker in the game. Candies and good IVs would not be bad here either.
These tips will help you: We provide you with some tips that can help you while playing. This way, you can easily complete more than 30 raids.
- Find an area with many gyms
- You can only complete many raids with a lot of gyms. So drive to a bigger city if necessary or choose the part of the city that has many gyms.
- Plan a good route in advance
- Planning is the most important thing. So have a route ready that you can complete. This way, you won’t have to think about it during the event.
- Don’t fight the raid boss standing still
- As soon as you are in battle, i.e., you don’t have to wait in the lobby for 2 minutes, you can already walk away from the gym. As long as your first battle team is not eliminated, you will stay in battle. So walk to the next gym while you fight.
- Don’t waste time throwing
- Good throwing increases the catch chance, but if you don’t have a good specimen, it’s advisable to throw the balls without a catch trick. This saves a lot of time, and you will still catch a large part of the Pokémon.
- Keep your group small
- Many players in a group means a lot of stress. So only be in a small group of 4-5 players. This way, you can quickly defeat every Raikou and will still not be too hindered.
These are the best counters against Raikou
Use these types: Raikou is an electric type, which means it is only vulnerable to ground attacks. So put together your best ground team.
The best counters against Raikou are:
- Groudon with Mud Shot and Earthquake
- Garchomp with Mud Shot and Earthquake
- Rhyperior with Mud Slap and Earthquake
- Mamoswine with Mud Slap and Steamroller
- Rhydon with Mud Slap and Earthquake
How many people do you need to defeat Raikou? With the right weather and counters, you can defeat Raikou with just two people. However, it is quite tight.
A team of 3-4 players should be able to defeat Raikou well, even if you are at a lower level. The counters are crucial here.
Raikou with 100% IV – These are the CP required
This is how strong Raikou can be in the raid: The maximum CP of Raikou in the raid is 1972 CP. In rainy weather in the game, it even reaches 2466 CP.
If your Raikou from the raid is close to these CP, then it should have good IVs. The further it is away from that, the worse it is.
These items will help you on Raid Day
- Lucky Egg – 6 pieces
- Ideally, you should let a Lucky Egg run for the entire 3 hours. After all, you get 20,000 XP per raid. So if you complete 30 raids, that’s 600,000 XP. It’s worth it.
- GO Plus
- This gadget is particularly important on Raid Day. This way, you can catch Pokémon while battling in raids. With the press of a button, the GO Plus throws exactly one ball at the targeted Pokémon.
In July, another big event awaits you:
