Soon, the first Iron Banner of the new Season 8 – the Season of the Immortals – will start in Destiny 2. There are new gear to earn and some changes compared to the previous season. Particularly, the grind will be reduced.
When does the first Iron Banner of Season 8 start? As Bungie announced in its weekly blog post, the new Iron Banner event will kick off next week, on October 15th at 7 PM. It will end on October 22nd at 7 PM, exactly one week later. The mode played will be Control.
Will there be a Valor bonus? Yes! Bungie has not revealed the exact details, but based on previous events, there will likely be double Valor points until Friday and then triple Valor points thereafter. So, it’s the perfect time to farm the Redrix Claymore!
Will there be new armor to earn? Yes, with the new armor set “Iron Will”, Guardians can earn new gear:
These changes will the new Iron Banner bring: Too monotonous, grind-heavy, and boring. The Iron Banner of the last Season 7 was criticized by the community. Based on this criticism, Bungie has made the following changes:
- There is a new seasonal quest that you must complete before you can purchase token packages from Lord Saladin
- This quest is character-based and rewards you with the Iron Will armor set
- Each step of these challenges rewards either weapons or armor
- The progress of these challenges counts for the entire Season 8
- Until the seasonal quest is completed, you will only receive Iron Banner rewards after completing Iron Banner matches
- Until the quest is completed, you will exclusively receive weapons as rewards
- The existing seven bounties have been adjusted to yield rewards up to a maximum power level of 950. However, you can only complete a maximum of four of these bounties per event.
Bungie is also investigating a possible bug that could allow players to complete more than the four intended bounties.
What tasks are involved in the seasonal quest? On the page light.gg, the challenges for the seasonal quest can already be viewed:
You must land the final hit on an opponent with various weapons and, in addition, capture zones, complete matches, and defeat opponents with each quest step. Overall, the tasks will likely be easier to manage than in the past season.
What’s going on with the changes to heavy ammunition? Last week, Bungie made changes to the spawns of heavy ammunition. In Control mode, players will now have the opportunity to obtain heavy ammunition every 2 minutes after the first drop, starting at 45 seconds. Previously, this was possible after one minute.
However, this change has not yet been implemented in the Iron Banner. You will find heavy ammunition more frequently than in the standard Control mode.
