In the hack ‘n slash Path of Exile, a player managed to complete three challenges during an event, earning him over $14,000 in prize money.
What kind of event was it? Grinding Gear Games, along with streamer Zizaran and sponsor Shopify, invited players to defeat boss monsters, including The Awakener, in the “Heist HC SSF” mode. The challenges had prize pools of around $40,000.
A Series of Exciting Challenges in PoE
What exactly were the challenges like? There were a total of 10 challenges to master, each with different prize amounts:
- First Place (First Awakener Kill): $11,000
- Second Place: $6,000
- Third Place: $3,000
- Fourth to Fifteenth Place: $750
- First Atziri Kill: $750
- First Uber Atziri Kill: $2,500
- First Shaper Kill: $1,500
- First Elder Kill: $750
- First Uber Elder Kill: $2,500
- Deepest Delve: $3,000
Who really cleaned up? The PoE player Darkee managed to complete three of the challenges, including the first place, which required him to eliminate The Awakener first. Just that earned him $11,000.
Additionally, he achieved the First Atziri Kill, for which he received $750, and the First Uber Elder Kill, bringing him another $2,500. In total, he earned $14,250 from the event.
How did he do it? The Awakener kill was the hardest, which is why it had such a high prize award.
Darkee used a Trickster with Essence Drain, a variant of the classes of the action RPG. It is a standard build that allows you to master essentially all content in Path of Exile. The build is not specifically tailored to special content.
The Trickster with Essence Drain is designed for speed. Thus, Darkee was able to effectively dodge the Awakener’s attacks. Essence Drain then caused very high damage with his attacks, as you can see in the attached video.
The tactic of moving quickly, staying in motion, dodging attacks, and then striking back quickly proved successful. After about 10 minutes, the Awakener was defeated, and Darkee could claim a first kill of the event, earning the hefty prize money.
