Some MMORPGs are still actively played despite their age. Are there any true veterans among you with very old, still playable characters?
One of the main features of MMORPGs is that they can (at least theoretically) be played over a very long period of time. And some of them will indeed:
- Lord of the Rings Online or Guild Wars 2 are over 10 years old
- World of Warcraft or EVE Online have been online for over 15 years
- And stalwarts like Ultima Online, Tibia or EverQuest have been around for over 20 years.
Some players who commit to an MMORPG play it almost continuously. Others take breaks but keep returning to the games, reactivating their account and continuing to play.
And when you play an MMORPG over a very long time, you also develop a connection to your characters. After all, you invest a hell of a lot of time and effort into them.
Often, special memories are associated with them, such as the first raid with friends or other cool experiences in the game. It’s a shame to just delete them.
