PC players of the MMORPG Neverwinter can access the contents of the Uprising update starting August 13th. This includes a new playable race, the Gith, a new endgame challenge, a revised player experience, and much more.
This was detailed with the upcoming update:
- With Uprising (Mod 17), the conflict between the Gith and Illithid reaches a climax in the caves beneath the mountain.
- The Gith will be playable as a new race.
- As a special endgame challenge, groups of up to 10 players will have the unique opportunity to challenge Halaster Blackcloak in his domain.
- The longer stays of adventurers in the caves have also positively impacted the Protector’s Enclave – so don’t be surprised by some “renovations” in the city.
- Particularly for newcomers, the adjustments to the early game could be interesting. Changes to zone design and a revision of quests are planned.
- A new PVP map, along with new equipment, is also expected to be included in Uprising.
- Additionally, a revision of the mode system will take place.
- The event “The Ancient Tales” returns with even more dungeons.
A Q&A stream regarding the new announcement will be available on July 10th at 11 PM German time on the official Twitch channel of Cryptic Studios.

Who is the new expansion aimed at? The new content offers something for everyone. Newcomers can benefit from the overhaul of the starting zones and the adjusted story.
Long-term players may be interested in the new PVP map and the fight against Halaster Blackcloak.
Why is Uprising important for Neverwinter: The last major Update 16 divided the community. Neverwinter was thoroughly overhauled here. Cryptic Studios made extensive changes to classes, feats, and powers. As a result, many veterans feel that the game has lost complexity.
Additionally, level scaling was introduced. Players can no longer farm in lower-level regions.
Uprising thus has some reconciliatory work to do.
How does the community feel about the announced changes? Fan reactions to the announcements are mixed. While there is noticeable excitement about the new content, there remains a certain skepticism regarding bugs, grind, and balancing.
SourLaser writes on YouTube: “I can’t wait to see the bugs and the extra grind that I’ll have to put in.”
StumpyRouge says on YouTube: “How about fixing Mod 16 first before working on a new one and taking the necessary time for it.”
The Redditor Agilesto writes in the thread about the new update: “I would love to look forward to the expansion, but the release of Mod 16 destroyed any hype I had built up during the preview phase. So I can now hope that this time it will be a smooth release that doesn’t break everything that was important to me.”
