Since its record-breaking launch in February 2019, Apex Legends has lost some of its player base. However, death is far from certain for this Battle Royale. The developers reported new player numbers in the summer of 2019: How many people play Apex Legends on PC, PS4, and Xbox One?
How many players Apex Legends has: Currently, between 8 and 10 million players play Apex Legends per week. This was confirmed by publisher EA in a conference with the game’s investors (via venturebeat).
These numbers refer to players across all platforms: PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
How has Apex Legends developed? Although ten million players sound like a large number, Apex Legends had a better start. About a week after release, Apex Legends already had 25 million registered players.
Shortly after, in May 2019, the mark was broken once again. With 50 million registered players, Apex Legends even recorded larger growth for a short time than its competitor Fortnite at that time.
How Apex Legends performs currently against Fortnite or PUBG is hard to say, as current player numbers are missing. However, a flattening of player numbers like that of Apex Legends is normal, so there is nothing to indicate a “dying game” here.
How is Apex Legends doing?
This is happening in Apex Legends right now: Currently, the second season of Apex Legends is running, in which a part of the map King’s Canyon is destroyed and significantly overhauled, and in which the new legend Wattson has made her appearance. Additionally:
- the new weapon L-Star
- an improved Battle Pass
- a ranked mode
- improvements to nine weapons
- some minor adjustments and bug fixes
Despite the many changes, season 2 started off rather moderately for Apex Legends.
This is what’s next for Apex Legends: For the future, new gameplay modes are coming to Apex Legends, which the developers have already confirmed. One of these modes was the ranked mode. What other modes might come is only speculated by players so far. Recently, a Royal Rumble has been very popular among fans.
There are also hints about the new legend Crypto, who may arrive with season 2, but possibly not until season 3.
There is no release date for season 3 yet, but according to EA, it is supposed to be even bigger than season 2.
If season 2 lasts about three months like season 1, it would end on October 1, 2019.
