Multiplayer games and MMOs are “endless games” that can consume a lot of time. How much do you spend on it?
Gaming can be a very time-consuming hobby. Especially in the multiplayer and AAA sector, publishers often compete with each other, trying to outdo one another in terms of gameplay time and replay value of their games. Not to mention “endless games” like MMORPGs that receive regular updates.
Time is a valuable resource that gaming has to compete with other leisure activities and entertainment options. The head of the MMORPG FFXIV, Naoki Yoshida, noted this years ago. Most of us do not spend our often limited free time solely gaming.
- We watch movies and series
- Go out and spend time with friends
- Do sports and have other hobbies that have nothing to do with gaming.
Additionally, many have families they need to care for and spend time with. The hobby of gaming must take a backseat.
