For more than a week, the shooter Bodycam has been in Early Access on Steam. This gives players enough time to try out whether the game can meet their expectations.
What kind of game is this? Bodycam is a first-person shooter developed with Unreal Engine 5 and was released on Steam about a week ago. The multiplayer shooter, which focuses on PvP, has a unique feature: it allows you to experience the game from the perspective of a bodycam.
The immersive feeling of being right in the action is created by the shooter’s graphic style. The developers pay attention to making everything as realistic as possible and to incorporating many details. With this concept, the shooter garnered attention on social media early on.

Just an expensive tech demo?
How is Bodycam received on Steam? For more than a week, the ultra-realistic shooter has been in Early Access on Steam. The shooter has received a “mostly positive” rating with 72% based on over 11,000 votes. Currently, over 8,000 players are playing the game during peak times.
Players have mixed reactions to the state of the game. For some, the shooter is just a tech demo, while for others, it’s a successful change of pace:
mystoboy writes on Steam: “The game currently feels like a tech demo and costs €30. I wouldn’t spend more than €10 on it right now. The peer-to-peer servers don’t work well, as the host often leaves the game after the first death. Of the 30 minutes I played, I spent 15 minutes trying to find a lobby where I could actually play. […]”
TryhardXD;) wishes for something on Steam: “Good game, but we need an offline mode with bots!” SoulofFlesh writes on Steam: “I’ll rate this as quite fun and unique, and I won’t give up on it just because they aren’t ‘experienced developers’. […]”
Ischke writes on Steam: “[…] Although the game is in Early Access and has some bugs, there are far fewer than one would expect from a game of this kind. The focus is on realism and extremely loud, very very loud weapons. One must get used to the movements and actually think about their actions. I have much more fun with this game than, for example, R6 [Rainbow Six: Siege]. […]”
What else is planned for Bodycam this year? The developers of Bodycam have already shared a roadmap with their plans for the rest of 2024. Initial priorities are bug fixes and various improvements to performance, anti-cheat, and other aspects. New maps are also set to be added soon.
Later in the year, the promised zombie mode is also expected to arrive. In addition to new weapons, further maps, and character skins, they are also working on Nvidia DLSS support.
Towards the end of the year, a new game mode, new maps, a photo mode, and additional languages are set to be introduced. Bodycam is not the only shooter that went viral with ultra-realism. The shooter Unrecord also garnered a lot of attention early on, with videos of its gameplay.
