Destiny 2 released the new season of the Lost on August 24, 2021. We at MeinMMO are now going through the impressions of the Guardians regarding the new season and showing you how it is currently perceived by the Guardians. In the end, we need your help and opinion.
This is currently happening in Destiny 2: The new Season 15, the season of the Lost, is now a little over a week old, the Iron Banner is on everyone’s lips, and many changes that Bungie had promised us have been added. But how does the new season affect the Guardians?
Now that new activities, weapons (or weapon changes) are live, and the exciting story continues, it’s worth looking back at the first few days. The following information comes from the Destiny 2 community – predominantly from Reddit and YouTube. The opinions are listed here and supplemented with the expert opinion of our author.
What the Guardians say about Season 15 in Bungie’s action MMO
In the following section, I will name the currently most important topics regarding Season 15 and show you what it is all about. All of this will be accompanied by my opinion to possibly provide you with a different perspective.
Joy about the Dreaming City
The new season of the Lost is set in the Dreaming City, and that makes many Guardians happy. Through the continuing story, we are guided through the Dreaming City and must find Atlas images on behalf of Mara Sov – the Queen of the Awoken – that lead us to an ancient relic.
This treasure hunt allows us to admire the Awoken City, which has been forgotten since the release of Forsaken. Guardians even thank Bungie on Reddit (via. reddit) for a reason to revisit the Awoken City.
The Reddit post makes it clear how beautiful the Dreaming City truly is. By collecting Atlas images, we make our way to remote locations that we did not notice or even forgot during Forsaken times.
Perhaps the 15th Wish will finally be clarified and show what Mara was really up to back then. In this regard, I find the reappearance of the Dreaming City cool and thus hope that other old places will gain significance.
Astral Alignment – What the community thinks about the new 6-Guardian activity
The Season of the Lost comes with a new activity called “Astral Alignment.” This activity lets you shoot the Taken, cleanse plates, deposit batteries, and take down a boss. Nevertheless, most Guardians dislike the purpose of this activity:
What bothers: This Reddit post essentially explains the lack of relevance of the activity. Apart from the fact that Guardians are forced to participate due to the new season quest, this activity isn’t really worthwhile. If you need weapons and armor from the new season, Umbral Engrams would be your safest source, as you can focus on specific items you need.
Another thing you may have noticed are the annoying bugs that force you back to orbit because the activity cannot be completed. Recently, I was with my Guardian in the passage with the batteries. I wanted to deposit the last battery when a Taken boss kicked me into nothingness. Thanks to the boss, the battery disappeared and was not respawned.
However, since the mode provides story-relevant information for the ongoing season, it would still be advisable to play a few rounds each week to stay up to date.
Crossplay brings us all together
How the new feature is received: Crossplay allows Guardians from different platforms to play together – Bungie took a great step forward and enabled us Guardians to fight aliens with friends or acquaintances without being hindered by a platform barrier.

Guardians are thankful for the opportunity to finally play together again with old friends from previous Destiny times. Reddit user sneuri commented under the post:
I feel you, I had friends from high school with whom I haven’t spoken in 2 years, and they asked me if I wanted to raid with them.

Perhaps you also have friends who have changed their gaming platform, preventing you from playing Destiny 2 together. This is now a thing of the past with Crossplay.
However, there is this hurdle: Keyword communication – If you want to play with players from other platforms, there are communication difficulties. As a PlayStation player, you unfortunately cannot invite PC or Xbox players to a party to chat.
Since Hotfix 3.3.0.1, it is now possible to chat with other Guardians in the game chat, but since the game chat offers poor audio quality, this is certainly not an option for everyone.
This also applies to the other platforms. Discord would be an alternative, but since as a player you also want to hear game sound, it becomes exhausting over time to talk on Discord while hearing game sounds in the other ear.
The respective platforms like Xbox and PlayStation would need to deal with this and find a solution to this problem. Gradually, they should realize that Crossplay will definitely become an important part of the gaming industry.
Two Exotics have already been disabled
This is what it’s about: As you are accustomed to from Destiny 2, crazy events often occur after a season release.
- Two specific Exotics have certainly taken it to the extreme.
- The Exotics have now been disabled after they showed how broken they are.
- These are the new Hunter legs “The Radiant Dance Machines” and the old familiar Titan gloves “Wormgod’s Caress.”

Why is this so bad? As a Destiny player, this unfortunately shows me that Bungie apparently does not take the time to carefully check their changes to avoid such escapades. Sure, such changes are fun, as they allow us to fully unleash the power of light.
Who wouldn’t want to take down Atheon with a hammer in fractions of seconds like in this YouTube video:
But unfortunately, this can also have negative consequences, as illustrated in this example regarding the new exotic Hunter legs.
What’s wrong with the Exotic? By simply using the mod “Dynamo” in conjunction with the exotic “The Radiant Dance Machines,” Hunters could fill their super in seconds, and that only with the Hunter dodge roll.
This caused an uproar, especially in Gambit, as it was reported that the Golden Gun was present in every invasion.

The Destiny community does not appreciate this at all – at least they were disabled as quickly as possible.
Guardians on YouTube also mention under the video by Aztecross (via. YouTube) regarding the shoes the following:
- I_BBeast_I: Does Bungie ever test anything? I feel like this was predictable from a mile away and they didn’t see it coming.
- Daniel Yeary: How could Bungie add something like this to the game after they nerfed not only Icarus Dash but all super regeneration Exotics?
Vex Terror in the Crucible
The new Iron Banner is in full swing, and already some encounter an annoying problem. It’s about the infamous Vex Mythoclast.
Due to the changes in the weapon sandbox, it is increasingly noticeable how much the raid fusion rifle dominates the Crucible. This is what the well-known Destiny 2 YouTuber Aztecross says about the revamped fusion rifle:
Now that I own the fusion rifle myself and can enjoy all its advantages with the completed catalyst, I have to say that the rifle is definitely powerful. In capable hands, this weapon can deal a lot of damage and turn certain rounds into hell for the opponent.
Give the weapon a chance: However, one should not overlook that we come from a PvP meta dominated by shotguns and 120 RPM hand cannons, which still is to some extent. A little fresh air definitely does our Guardian soul good and provides variety in the PvP section of Destiny 2. But it’s not just me who thinks so, but also this Reddit thread:
This post points out that Guardians should not be hasty with “Nerf the Vex” demonstrations, as this weapon is not yet nerf-worthy. Let’s be honest with ourselves and others, this weapon was worthless before its rework – The Vex was an item to claim “Hey, I own the weapon, but it didn’t serve much more.”
Now that this weapon has been revamped, it can definitely enjoy a rightful place in the Guardian’s loadout.
Basically, this weapon should not be nerfed until the majority of the community has tried it out. Only then can a general judgment be made about this weapon to determine whether it should be nerfed or not.
