EX-Raids and Raids in Pokémon GO are being improved – We show you how Niantic is doing it and what to expect now.
A few days ago, the developers at Niantic announced that there will soon be improvements to well-known features in Pokémon GO. As we now learn, this involves Raids and EX-Raids.
Some trainers will breathe a sigh of relief here, as the opaque EX-Raids have been a contentious topic in the community for many weeks. Now there are finally insights into how the system will work in the future and how to qualify for invitations.
EX-Raid Requirements: How do I get an invitation?
Niantic has taken into account the opinions and comments of the community and has made some changes to the EX-Raid system.
- EX-Raid battles will mostly take place in gyms located in parks and at sponsored locations in the future.
- Your chance of receiving an invitation to an EX-Raid increases with the level of your gym badge at the respective gym.
- The more raid battles you have participated in, the higher the chance of receiving an invitation to an EX-Raid.
- In the future, the start time of an EX-Raid battle will depend on the most popular raid times at the respective gyms.
- If an EX-Raid battle does not take place, invited trainers will be informed via an in-game message.
- As compensation, you will receive Stardust and Premium Raid Passes if an EX-Raid battle does not occur.
With the factor of the mentioned gym badge levels, the developers want to reward active players with EX-Raids.
The developers explain that they have received a lot of feedback regarding the event times of the EX-Raids. These are now dependent on what time of day there are usually a lot of players at the gyms. This should increase the number of participants.
Over time, EX-Raid battles will take place in additional locations. However, these will only be checked for good accessibility first. Once the mentioned changes are activated, the test phase of the EX-Raids will be completed, and they will start officially in Pokémon GO.
Raids bring golden Razz Berries
For the raids, Niantic has come up with a few changes that are meant to reward trainers with better items. This way, players can still have a sense of achievement when the boss flees.
- You will now receive golden Razz Berries as a reward for completing a raid battle.
- There are fewer potions and revives from raid battles due to the changes. However, the quality of the potions has been increased.
- The chance of receiving Fast and Charged TMs from raid battles of level 3 or higher has been increased.
- Trainers will now receive Stardust after every raid battle, regardless of whether they win or lose.
- A familiar face is returning: Magikarp will again be available as a level 1 raid!
What do you think of the changes? Was the long wait for this announcement worth it?
