What is it about? On Friday evening, February 19, 2021, BlizzCon started at 11:00 PM. The event began with the approximately one-hour opening ceremony. Traditionally, Blizzard announces major updates and reveals what is happening in their franchises, including new games and content.
The huge surprises were absent this year. Due to leaks, people already knew about the new content for World of Warcraft Classic and the Retail version with the current expansion Shadowlands.
Nevertheless, epic trailers lifted the spirits of viewers in the livestreams.
What was announced at BlizzCon 2021?
WoW: With a cinematic, Blizzard dove into the lore of WoW: Shadowlands. The video “The Weapon Anduin Wrynn” revolves around how Anduin came to his new form.
For WoW: Classic, the expansion The Burning Crusade was presented.
Hearthstone: In Blizzard’s card game, the presentation focused on the 17 new cards that return with the expansion “Forged in the Barrens.”
Diablo: For the Diablo franchise, there were two announcements. The new installment, Diablo 4 introduced the new class “Rogue”. A huntress that you can play with 3 specializations.
Nostalgic feelings arise with the announcement of the remastered version of a classic. Diablo II: Resurrected will be released later in 2021. For PC and consoles.
