With the launch of the major Forsaken expansion of Destiny 2, a new clan system was established that is particularly disadvantageous for smaller clans. Bungie has now announced improvements to the clan system for the new season. We summarize what to expect!
The clan system introduced with Destiny 2 was intended to give Guardians even more incentives to join a clan. A special level system was supposed to bring better rewards for particularly active clans. With Forsaken, Bungie significantly overhauled the clan system, which was not well received by all clans.
With the start of Season 6 in early March, Bungie is now returning to the roots of the clan system, namely the one from the launch of Destiny 2. There will also be better rewards, but let’s take it one step at a time.
This is the clan system since Forsaken: When Destiny 2 launched, players could earn clan experience points by completing any milestones, which were credited to a shared account. This way, clans could quickly level up.
With Forsaken, Bungie significantly limited the clan system. Clan XP was only awarded when bounties collected from Hawthorne were completed. At the same time, the XP gain for players was restricted.

This is the criticism of the current clan system: Since the maximum number of experience points per week has been greatly limited, smaller clans in particular struggled to level up. Players felt forced to join a larger clan to take advantage of the rewards.
According to Bungie, the goal of the current system was
- to create larger clans where players could find new friends
- to provide a stronger incentive to experience Destiny 2 together with clan members.
At the same time, it was noted that the clan bounties from Hawthorne offer little variety and that there are often more Crucible bounties active than others.

This is how the clan system changes for the new Season 6: Essentially, Bungie is returning to the clan system that you experienced at the launch of Destiny 2. However, there are also some changes:
- You can earn clan XP through any activities. This naturally means that clan bounties will be removed from the game.
- With the start of the new Season 6, there will be three weekly bounties that you must complete together with clan mates. There will always be one raid, one PvE, and one Crucible bounty that will provide you with legendary gear and plenty of clan XP.

What clan improvements are there? The improvements for the clan that are unlocked with the various levels will also be revised, as they sometimes had only minor effects.
- At clan rank 3, you will receive mod components upon completion of weekly bounties
- Clan rank 4 will additionally grant you upgrading cores upon completion of weekly bounties
- At rank 6, you will unlock an additional weekly clan bounty
There will also be improvements for clan rank 5. This indicates that you will have an easier time obtaining exotic catalysts when playing with clan mates. With the new season, this probability will be increased.
In addition, some weapons from year 1 will also receive their catalyst.
What do you think of the clan changes? Are they necessary and right?
