A short video shows a segment from World of Warcraft, but in the style of Dark Souls. How cool that would look can be seen here.
With over 15 years, World of Warcraft is one of the longest-running games of all time. But after so many years, some gamers may have grown a bit tired of Azeroth and long for a new guise for the MMORPG. As large and extensive as the game world is, a realization with numerous locations would also not be a problem. So why not an action RPG, as Reddit user “fairafar” planned?
That WoW could look cool in modern graphics has already been seen – for example in Ironforge or also in Dämmerwald.
What is seen in the video: The short clip shows a scene that should look particularly familiar to Worgen players. During the intro experience of the Worgen, they must take refuge in a cathedral. This very location was chosen for a boss fight. The character faces off against a “Cathedral Worgen” and must take him down using abilities. The whole thing was created in Unreal Engine 4, but with many assets from World of Warcraft.
This is how the fight goes: Although the fight is quite simple, as the Worgen probably only has one attack, it is interesting to see how cool such a game could unfold in typical WoW graphics with an action combat system. The main character has at least one special ability that apparently also costs mana.
In the meantime, the Reddit posts, as well as the videos on most platforms have been deleted and even the Reddit account of “fairafar” no longer exists. Why he did this is unclear. Some suspect that he received a cease-and-desist letter from Blizzard. However, there is no confirmation of this, nor does it explain why he deleted his account.
