Legends of Aria
Developer: Citadel Studios | Publisher: Citadel Studios | Platform: PC | Release Date: July 8, 2020 | Model: Free2Play
What kind of game is this? Legends of Aria aimed to be a modern version of Ultima Online. In the large sandbox fantasy world, you can go your own way. There are no quests or a story.
You actively contribute to the player-driven economy by crafting items that you can sell. Additionally, you improve your hero through a free skill system.
How is the MMORPG doing currently? Although Legends of Aria has its own launcher, Steamcharts shows a fairly good trend regarding player numbers. These averaged around 99 concurrent players over the last 30 days. The peak was 159 players. Ratings on Steam stand at 56%, only balanced.
Twitchtracker ranks the MMORPG at 8,500.
This shows that Legends of Aria has a tough time despite shifting to a Free2Play model. The MMORPG feels unfinished even in its release state, has technical issues and server lags. Furthermore, players miss more content, such as additional dungeons or even a story.
What does the future look like? The developers have already announced that they will focus on a new MMORPG. The End is a dark fantasy MMO with survival elements.
Legends of Aria will likely continue to receive updates for a while, but the developers’ focus will certainly be on The End. You shouldn’t expect any major innovations for LoA.
