At the beginning of Destiny, there were few options to get good loot. By accident, however, Guardians discovered that a measly cave could drop legendary and also exotic loot. Do you remember the Loot Cave?
What is the Loot Cave? In Destiny 1, there was a cave that Guardians dubbed the “Loot Cave.” Players accidentally discovered at that time that Hive enemies would stream out of the aforementioned cave over and over again.
Basically, that sounds like nothing special, but at the time, it was a blessing. No matter what activity you were engaged in, the loot was abysmal. You could try your hardest, but the chances of getting legendary or exotic gear were minimal back then.
That’s why players named this cave. It was the original form of effective farming in Destiny.
Guardians stared for hundreds of hours into a measly cave
Why did players use this method? Many new players from Destiny 2 do not know this at all when they are not buried under loot. After almost every strike, Gambit, or Crucible match, legendary engrams are waiting for you, but in Destiny 1, they were considered a real rarity.
Even exotic engrams could sometimes only be obtained after hundreds of hours. However, once you got one in your hands, the joy was indescribably huge. To speed up the process and finally get rare loot quickly, the accidentally discovered “Loot Cave” was super practical.
Unlimited Hive enemies would phase out from the cave, and the Guardians just had to stand around farming for hours to get the coveted loot.
How did this method work? It was as simple as it was monotonous. You simply positioned yourself right across from the cave with a weapon and shot down all the enemies that came into your view. You repeated this as often as you wanted.
Wasn’t it boring after a while? Surprisingly, quite the opposite. Players actually had fun blasting the same enemies for hours and finally getting loot they had worked hard for.
But note: Destiny 1 cannot be compared to Destiny 2 in this case. Nowadays, no one, except for catalysts, would sit in front of a cave and kill the same enemies for hours.
The loot is unfortunately thrown at you in Destiny 2, and exotics are no longer as rare as they used to be. Times have changed, but it is always interesting to see how Guardians earned their cool loot back then.
Can I still visit the cave in Destiny 2? With the return of the Cosmodrome, the Loot Cave has also returned. You can find it in the same place in the Cosmodrome. Even the speaking remains of the dead Hive have been implemented. These were added in Destiny 1 to remember the Loot Cave and the countless hours farmed.
A dungeon has also been dedicated to the famous cave. “Sands of Avarice” is its name and takes you on a journey filled with greed and thirst for loot. However, the dungeon is included in the 30th anniversary package from Bungie and must be purchased beforehand.
Do you remember the Loot Cave, and if so, did you spend hours trying to get your first legendary or even exotic piece of equipment? Please let us know in the comments if you experienced the cave cult in Destiny 1 yourself.
