The Fortnite world is currently in turmoil. Two former cheaters have qualified for the World Championship and Epic is doing nothing about it. But what do the pros think about this?
This is the issue at hand: In week 8 of the qualification for the Fortnite World Championship, a duo qualified, which had previously been noted for cheating.
This is how the players coordinated in a solo round, and the player “XXiF” was able to secure some easy kills. He was banned from the qualifiers for 2 weeks but was back in time to qualify again, this time with his duo partner “Ronaldo”, who had been disqualified together with XXiF.
This is what other players say about the qualification
This is the general mood: In general, the atmosphere is quite tense. Hardly anyone can understand why the cheater was allowed to participate in the tournament again after being caught.
There are various threads on Reddit with thousands of upvotes that specifically address this issue. On Twitter and Twitch, various streamers and pros have voiced their opinions on this faux pas.
Here are some statements: The streamer “DrLupo” wrote: “A cheater who qualifies for a 30-million-dollar tournament is a kick in the nuts for the integrity of the Fortnite competitive community. […] I feel for everyone who has worked hard and improved their gameplay, only to be eliminated from the qualifiers by this duo.”
The pro and streamer Tfue, who has already qualified for solos, took the whole thing with humor. He said in a stream: “Listen, I don’t think they ever cheated, but I know where I’ll land in the last week of duos.” He is referring to the landing spot where XXiF secured some easy kills and was caught cheating.
The pro Vivid from Team Liquid writes: “You let cheaters into your biggest tournament. I’m curious how you plan to explain this story to your young audience. That could be interesting.”
What do you think about this? Do you find it fair that the cheaters were allowed to participate again, or would a permanent ban have been more appropriate?
