Rank 7: Aegon, Lord of Dragonstone

Long before Aegon I the Conqueror took over, Targaryens existed in Westeros. They fled from the downfall of their old homeland, Valyria.
Their seat was Dragonstone, where they remained for many generations, without much concern for the rest of Westeros.
Aegon is probably the first Targaryen who was born on Dragonstone. His parents were Geamon Targaryen and Daenys the Dreamer. However, not much more is known about him. However, since he also did not stand out particularly negatively, he at least lands in seventh place in this ranking.
This family tree clearly shows the beginning of the Targaryen dynasty in Westeros:
Rank 6: The Young Griffin
- Born: ca. 281 A.C.
- Quote: “The perfect prince, yet still a half-boy, with terribly little experience in this world and its needs.” (Tyrion Lannister on Aegon, from A Dance with Dragons)
The Young Griffin is a character that plays an important role in the books, but was cut from the series. He is (presumably) the oldest child of Rhaegar Targaryen and the half-brother of a very well-known character, namely Daenerys.
Like his sister, he survived the assassination attempt after Robert’s Rebellion and grew up in exile in Essos. To conceal his identity, he dyes his hair blue.
As the rightful heir to the Iron Throne, he prepares for reconquest and gathers many allies around him. Since his birth, he has been prepared to become king. He studies history and science, learns languages, practices combat, and spends time with the common folk.
Despite all the preparations, he is young and must still prove himself.
Rank 5: Aegon, the Uncrowned
- Lifetime: 26 A.C. to 43 A.C.
Prince Aegon was the eldest son and heir of King Aenys I Targaryen and thus the grandson of Aegon the Conqueror. However, after his father’s death, his uncle Maegor usurped the throne. Aegon then dutifully went to war, which did not end well for him.
He was killed by Maegor on the enormous dragon Balerion and became known as Aegon the Uncrowned in history.
Rank 4: Jon Snow

Not much needs to be said about Jon Snow, as he is one of the most prominent characters from Game of Thrones. Raised as a bastard of Ned Stark, it is later revealed that he is actually the son of Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark.
His true name is Aegon Targaryen, which earns him a place on this list. However, this refers only to the series; in the books, no alternative name is known.
He is an excellent fighter, loyal, honorable, and reserved. He would rather choose a life “Beyond the Wall” than seize the throne.
