The BlizzCon promises two new heroes in HotS – the Firelord Ragnaros and the fallen human king Varian Wrynn.
At BlizzCon 2016, Blizzard made several major announcements for each of its games, and Heroes of the Storm is no exception. After Alarak and Zarya recently entered the battlefield, it was time for more characters. As Blizzard particularly enjoys honoring characters that have “departed” from their actual games, this time they took a look at World of Warcraft. Especially with the “Legion” expansion, many characters have met their end, making it time for some invitations to the Nexus.
The first newcomer is Varian Wrynn, the former king of Stormwind and High King of the Alliance. After he fell at the Broken Shore fighting Gul’dan, he finds himself in the Nexus – where he can once again fight for all those who matter to him. The unique aspect of him as a character: He can fulfill multiple roles based on his talent choices! The player can decide during the match whether he wants to be an aggressive assassin or a defensive warrior.
The second newcomer is none other than the Firelord Ragnaros. After being defeated first in the Molten Core and eventually in the Firelands, the Firelord has now also arrived in the Nexus. Depending on his specialization, Ragnaros can take over entire fortresses and even become a massive “raid boss” to eliminate all the “bugs”. May the fire purify you!
