In Heroes of the Storm, the matchmaking system is being tweaked again. Will everything be better this time?
The Eternal Balance Problem
Matchmaking has always been one of the biggest problems in Heroes of the Storm. Although changes were made a few weeks ago regarding how teams were matched in quick search, subjectively, not much has changed. It has now become common for 5-player teams to be pitted against a group of solo players, which often significantly determines the outcome of the battle in advance.

The Community Manager Spyrian has now spoken out in the official forum and thanked all players for their feedback. Especially valuable were reports of those games where the matchmaking was anything but optimal or where wait times became particularly long.
In the future (no fixed date), the team plans to continue working on the MMR system and ensure that extremely one-sided matches are a thing of the past. The team has several ideas on how to achieve this, but there are no concrete statements yet regarding the exact process.
Long Wait Times Due to New Heroes
A major reason for long wait times, especially after the release of new heroes, is precisely this new hero. Many players want to try out the newcomer immediately, and since each character can only be present once per team, extended queues occur at these times. This problem cannot be resolved in the short term.

However, there is consideration to implement a display that shows all players which heroes have been chosen particularly often, allowing them to make a different decision and thus reduce wait time.
Finally, Spyrian points out that the upcoming changes will by no means eliminate all problems. However, they are on a good path and are confident of taking steps in the right direction.
