In Heroes of the Storm, the balance screws are being adjusted: At lower levels, heroes now have to wait longer for respawn.
Early death means longer in the grave
In Heroes of the Storm, very little is often decided in the first few minutes of the game. Especially when it comes to a team fight over a tribute or a Hell shrine, it occasionally does not win the better team, but rather the one that accepts death and participates in the battle again after just a few seconds. The culprit is the respawn timer, which is very low for heroes at lower levels. Blizzard is now adjusting the times a bit, as can be seen from this graphic:
As can be seen, nothing changes for characters above level 10. Before that, however, the effects can be significantly impactful, as a level 1 hero who dies is out for a whole 6 seconds longer and may miss another minion wave, valuable experience points for the team, or even a map objective. In any case, the change will lead to skirmishes at the beginning of a match gaining significance.
Reduced stat gain at lower levels
At the same time, an adjustment of character stats is implemented, which is also aimed at lower levels. In the first few minutes of a game, a small level advantage can already provide significant benefits and make the entire battle extraordinarily monotonous. To slightly mitigate this snowball effect, the gain of character stats per level has now been adjusted. In plain language, this means that the strength differential between teams at level 7 and 9 will be just as large as between teams at levels 17 and 19.
