Since this afternoon, the new patch for Heroes of the Storm is available, bringing not only the new hero Butcher but also numerous balancing changes. As an additional bonus, higher gold rewards are available for players.
The Butcher – Assassin and Gourmet
The highlight of the latest update is probably the Butcher, who is now available for 15,000 gold coins or €9.99. The burly assassin has some new mechanics and takes quick care of his enemies if he can first obtain enough fresh meat from his foes. We previously took a closer look at the new hero.
The Battlefield of Eternity
The latest battlefield sees influences from the Diablo universe flowing into the Nexus. The forces of Heaven and Hell face off against each other in a never-ending conflict for victory. Both sides have an Immortal that faces its opponent in the center of the map. Heroes can intervene to help one of the two creatures achieve victory. The victor is fully healed and then marches towards the enemy fort – controlling your own Immortal is thus the key element in this map.
To inaugurate the new battlefield, the rotation for the maps has been changed. In all game modes except “custom games”, battles will only take place on the following maps until July 7:
- Battlefield of Eternity
- Temple of Heaven
- Tomb of the Spider Queen
- Cursed Hollow
More Gold – Treasure Goblin and Level 9 Reward
During the eternal conflict, there is a new daily quest. This quest is outside the normal quest log and is available even if the player already has three tasks or has not yet unlocked daily missions. The goal is to kill a Treasure Goblin that appears near the player’s citadel before the game opens. If successful, an additional 100 gold coins per day are up for grabs!
But even more gold awaits players: All heroes grant 750 gold coins as soon as their hero reaches level 9. The gold will also be refunded retroactively if your heroes have already reached a higher level. At the same time, rewards for reaching levels 15 and 20 have been reduced (to 1000 and 2000 gold). Of course, no one loses gold who has already reached these levels.
Numerous Balancing Changes and Bug Fixes
The list of adjustments to various heroes is far too long to address all of them in detail here. The biggest revisions are with Brightwing, Rhaegar, Malfurion, and the Lost Vikings. Many of their talents have been revised, replaced, or removed without compensation. The Banshee Queen Sylvanas can look forward to an improvement of her heroic ability “Domination” which now has multiple charges and allows her to take control of entire waves of enemies simultaneously. For Illidan, the penetration of “Metamorphosis” has been significantly limited, which should cost him his position as an “unstoppable assassin”.
Characters with strong summons through heroic abilities (Jaina’s Water Elemental, Kerrigan’s Ultralisk, Raynor’s Banshees, etc.) can now still control these creatures after their death.
