A new preview video showcases upcoming content for Heroes of the Storm, including two new heroes, plenty of skins, and new mounts!
Autumn Season in the Nexus
Right after the games of the American Championship of Heroes of the Storm, Blizzard released a new “Currently in Development” video, which offers a first look at upcoming content. Among them are not only the two heroes Artanis and Lt. Morales (the Medic), but also numerous skin variations and as usual, plenty of mounts. But first, take a look at the video:
Artanis and Lt. Morales
The most exciting new feature of the future will probably be the two heroes, namely Artanis and Lt. Morales. While the release of the StarCraft warrior will likely coincide with the release of the “Legacy of the Void” expansion (November 10), we can only speculate about Lt. Morales. With about 6 weeks left until the launch of the StarCraft 2 addon, it’s even possible that Lt. Morales will be implemented into the game before Artanis. Unfortunately, there have been no details about the Protoss warrior’s skills, but at least a rough insight into the Medic’s abilities was already provided in the past.
New Skins: Nintendo-Medic, Hearthstone-Falstad and Anime-Artanis
Also worth a closer look are the new appearance variations that are currently in development. Blizzard has once again shown creativity, but is also not shy about making some very direct references to well-known characters from other games.
The master skin of Lt. Morales has a color variant that makes her look very much like Samus Aran from the Nintendo series “Metroid”.
Also, the premium skin Apothecary Morales is surely inspired by the Chaos Space Marines – and looks damn good.
Artanis, however, particularly excites me, as his premium skin Purifier Artanis has two color settings that make him look exactly like EVA 01 and EVA 02 from the anime classic Neon Genesis Evangelion. I already know which skin will be bought directly.
Raynor does justice to his job as a space cowboy and finally gets his own Marshall Skin. Equipped with a sheriff’s badge, he goes into battle and locks up the bad guys (or Mengsk) behind bars.
Buccaneer Falstad perfectly embodies the madness of the pirate on a parrot and brings the Hearthstone card Skycaptain Kragg into the Nexus.
New Mounts – Back to the Past and Halloween
There is also a lot of new content for mounts. Kicking things off is the Nexus Battle Beast, which will be available as a reward for participating (both virtually and in real life) at BlizzCon 2015.
A fast little horse, the Marshall’s Outrider, will likely be offered in a bundle with the new Raynor skin, definitely fitting the space cowboy visually.
The Void Speeder is nothing more than a hoverboard, but thematically and color-wise, it strongly resembles the Void Seeker, the spaceship of Zeratul in Starcraft 2. It looks particularly absurdly funny with the monk, as he hovers on the hoverboard himself – but hey, what’s physics?
Long-time Blizzard fans can also rejoice, as the new Vulture mount is based on the unit of the same name from Starcraft 1 – back then, Raynor used this vehicle to drive into the sunset with Kerrigan. How times change…
In line with the Hallows’ End, the Halloween variant of World of Warcraft, the Headless Horseman’s mount awaits players of the MMORPG, which they already know from the Scarlet Monastery.
Hopefully, more information about each hero will be available in the coming days – anyone wishing to engage more with the game in the meantime can do so on our Heroes of the Storm topic page.
