In Fortnite: Battle Royale (PC, PS4 & Xbox One) kamen mit Season 4 Einschlagskrater ins Spiel. Darin finden sich die „Hop-Rocks“, mit denen man extra hoch springt. Damit könnt ihr Fortnite ganz anders spielen und mehr auf Action als auf Bauen setzen.
What happened? Already weeks before the start of Season 4 a mysterious comet was visible in the sky. With the start of Season 4, the comet struck near Dusty Depot and largely destroyed it. Instead, there is now a giant crater (and at other places). Therefore, a research station was established, which some reminds of the one from the Marvel movie “Thor”. There, Shield agents built a base to lift Thor’s hammer.
And in this crater, there are strange new items called “Hop-Rocks” that completely change the gameplay!
New items in the crater
What are Hop-Rocks? In the crater near Dusty Depot, Risky Reels and elsewhere on the map, you will often find glowing gray stones at the edge. These are the Hop-Rocks (Jumping Rocks). To use them, you have to stand in front of them and hold down the action button. Then your avatar consumes the rock.
How do the Hop-Rocks work? Once you have “eaten” a rock, you will receive a buff for about 30 seconds. This allows you to jump further and higher. Hence the name “Hop-Rock”. Hop-Rocks are particularly effective with impulse grenades, as this allows you to catapult yourself quickly through the foliage.
Ideal for all building and camping refusals
This is how Hop-Rocks change the gameplay: The Hop-Rocks in Fortnite offer new opportunities and change the gameplay, at least in and around Dusty Depot, Risky Reels, and the other craters.
Because there, wild bouncing and shooting now dominate the gameplay. So if you are not into the house fights in Tilted Towers, you can really let loose here.
The craters with the Hop-Rocks are turning into arenas for action freaks. This is where you go if you want some serious shooting like in Quake or Unreal Tournament. Less building and camping happens here; it’s all about bouncing and shooting as much as you can!
Most players are happy with the Hop-Rock craters
In the community, the Hop-Rocks are generally well received. Those who love fast action prefer to go there and hang out with like-minded people.
If you don’t like the rocks, you can simply avoid the craters. The buff lasts only 30 seconds, and you cannot transfer the rocks to your inventory.
Are Hop-Rocks too powerful? Some players still complain that the Hop-Rocks are too strong and that especially with a shotgun you can perform particularly nasty headshot kills from above.
If the rocks do not become established, Epic may possibly remove them again. In the past, items have been removed again – like the guided missiles – because they did not work as intended. In addition, the map is likely to undergo several changes in Season 4. Who knows what will happen to the Hop-Rocks?
