At the Game Awards 2024, it didn’t happen often for the entire hall to rise to enthusiastic applause. One actor ensured this with his appearance, creating one of the special highlights of the show.
Which appearance is being referred to? Hardly had host Geoff Keighley finished his introduction of the Game Awards 2024, when the award for Best Performance was already on the agenda. First, the actor and voice actor Troy Baker, along with Todd Howard, Game Director and Executive Producer at Bethesda Game Studios, took to the stage.
Why these two in particular? Well, Bethesda – under Howard’s leadership – recently released Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, and a certain Troy Baker performed the motion capturing for the main character Indiana Jones (even though Indy’s face was designed based on the movies and thus portrays actor legend Harrison Ford).

Anyone who has already played the game will surely agree with us that Troy Baker and the developers did a great job bringing the iconic adventure to life. However, because of the late release date, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle was not nominated for any of the Game Awards 2024. Bethesda will have to wait until next year’s award show.
However, Baker and Howard’s appearance had a twist. Their task was to announce the actual presenter for the “Best Performance” award, namely none other than Harrison Ford, who has slipped into the role of Indiana Jones in five feature films and has portrayed other significant characters in film history such as Han Solo (Star Wars) and Rick Deckard (Blade Runner).

What was special about the tribute? When Harrison Ford took to the stage, appropriately accompanied by the famous “Raiders of the Lost Ark” theme, the guests celebrated the star with raucous cheers and standing ovations. The actor took the opportunity to praise Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, and teasingly complimented Troy Baker for his role as Indiana Jones:
I believe this guy here did a great job. If I had known how good he was, I would have taken the role myself.
Afterward, it seemed Harrison Ford was not keen on following his script. With a hand gesture, he indicated that he wanted to skip the next part. Instead, he announced the short introductory video featuring the nominees for the “Best Performance” award.
When it finally came time to announce the winner, Harrison Ford made a “John Travolta”. Melina Juergens, who received the performance award for Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II for the second time, was introduced by the actor as Melinda Juergens. Something similar happened to Travolta at the 2014 Oscars.
Despite this small faux pas, the surprising appearance of Harrison Ford was one of the highlights of the Game Awards 2024.
