The legendary monster “Ho-Oh” stays longer in Pokémon GO than expected. This was confirmed by Niantic’s support.
In recent days, trainers in Pokémon GO have been able to battle and catch a new legendary monster. Because the last event, the global catching challenge, went so well, the Pokémon GO team released the fire bird “Ho-Oh”.
The stay in the game has now been extended according to support emails.
Ho-Oh extends the stay duration
Last week, Niantic surprised us with the announcement that Ho-Oh will now appear in Pokémon GO. You can find the flying raid boss in level five gym battles. Originally, it was planned that Ho-Oh would stay until December 12th.
Now Niantic states in the support ticket that Ho-Oh will stay longer. But how long remains unclear.
The support staff mentions in a message regarding raid issues “Additionally, we will extend the deadline for catching Ho-Oh. More information will follow soon.”
Raid errors are likely the reason for the extension
Reports and screenshots of emails indicating the extension are accumulating on Reddit. In recent days, there have been repeated issues during raids. Players were sometimes unable to participate because the app crashed or only displayed a black screen instead of the game. Others could not start a catch attempt after a successful battle.
Many trainers who then contacted support and described their issue received premium raid passes and other items as compensation that they used for the raids.
By the way, Niantic has apparently fixed the error as they explained on Twitter last weekend.
Apparently, this poor player experience is the reason why Ho-Oh stays longer available to catch in the game. After all, the trainers who faced these issues lost valuable time.
Another email from Niantic was posted by Reddit user 0815Flo0815:
As soon as Niantic reveals how long Ho-Oh will stay in the game, we will update this article.
