The long-lasting Free2Play MMO Lord of the Rings Online will soon receive Update 16. In a video, the developers provide a glimpse.
Updates for Lord of the Rings come relatively rarely, but when they do, they are significant. Update 16 will advance the War of the Ring. Three new zones in the east of Gondor will be explored, experiencing the aftermath of the Battle of Pelargir (Update 15) where Aragorn defeated the Corsairs with the Army of the Oathbreakers. In the new zones, players will encounter refugees from Minas Tirith and hear their stories of escape, or they will be on the lookout for Faramir.
The three instances (2 for 3-players, 1 for 6-players) will take place in Osgiliath, the former capital of Gondor. In Update 16, the ruins of the city will have been overrun by Orcs.
Additionally, the video offers a small preview of the overhaul of the legendary weapons. They will no longer need to be dismantled and reconstructed repeatedly in a stop-and-go manner. In the future, they will grow with the player.
