In Lord of the Rings Online, there is a new schedule for the server transfer, which proves to be a Herculean task.
The producer of Lord of the Rings Online has spoken out. An initial transfer phase last week had to be interrupted due to “other connection issues” before the majority of the US transfers could begin. The server transfer is proving to be even more complicated and difficult than expected, but there is optimism, and they have learned from initial setbacks and collected data.
New Schedule for the Server Transfers
It is expected that early September new hardware and the data center will be available to conduct some tests on Bullroar. An event is also planned here, which they will reveal more about later.
They give mid-September to early October as the time frame to start the server transfers. This refers to a transfer of worlds that will soon be closed, to the 10 that will remain. They will start with the smallest worlds to avoid overwhelming the old hardware.
Between October and November, they believe the new data center and the new hardware will be ready for a complete switch, after which the server transfers will be enabled across all worlds. These are still preliminary plans that may change.
The producer emphasizes again what a gigantic undertaking this transfer is and asks the players for patience.
